New to the board, hello everyone! I have been thinking that an HBO 10 episode per season series is the best way to bring Jack beyond the novels.

Certainly a movie of The Tomb could be awesome, but this is not the way to go. Think of having the story of the Tomb spread over 10 episodes while giving time for Jack to work on other fixes and explore the mythology of the universe. This would allow enough time to tell the story without dragging it out like it was on network television.

The budget of HBO would also allow for better special effects, the inclusion of flashbacks, violence, adult language, etc. I think it would be awesome.

I just started Harbingers, btw. Infernal was awesome.

Finally on Netflix. Anyone else see it? I thought it was pretty good, but the trolls looked funny.

I just finished Bloodline, and I've been through all the previous RJ books. I've got By the Sword, Ground Zero and Fatal Error sitting here waiting, and I plan on buying The Dark at the End when it comes out. I plan to read the Adversary Cycle books, and I see that The Touch and Reprisal fall between Ground Zero and Fatal Error on the timeline. Will it make much difference if I skip these two AC books and finish the last two books in the RJ series before I start into the Adversary Cycle?

I ask because I've been having a harder time putting these things down as I continue through the series, and as I complete each one I'm looking forward the next. I would just as soon finish Jack's story (at least everything preceding Night World) before I backtrack to the Keep and start that series from the beginning, but I don't want to skip over something that is important. Since I started all this with the RJ series I will probably wait until the final Night World version comes out to read that.

I have to say that I've never been one to read a lot of fiction, but I stumbled into FPW a few years ago and I really enjoy his work. IIRC I saw some mention of the LaNague books in a blog thread (probably Reason because I'm there every day). I found a used copy of The LaNague Chronicles and loved all three of the books contained therein, and that led me to RJ. Thanks for hours of entertainment, Mr. Wilson.

I have just read A swell-looking babe and The Getaway.

Marvellous. Minimalist, no-nonsense crime yarns. Horrible people living their desperate lives. Short and to the point.

Obviously very understated by today's graphic standards. The final 'El Ray' chapter of The Getaway was one of the best, most subtle instances of come-uppance I've come across. It mercifully bears no resemblance to that crappy Baldwin/Basinger movie.

Thompson is also an order of magnitude better than James Ellroy, who I find to be a vastly overrated novelist.

But yes: Jim Thompson. Give him a try.

Is it just me or would yesterday's season opener of The Simpsons really have worked just great being about Jack, and a few Otherness agents instead of the Ukrainians? Smile

Has anyone else seen this? An excellent movie about a band of samuri that are hired to assassinate a tryant Lord on his journey back to his clan's homeland. The cinematography was excellent, the scenery absolute beautiful and the story was engaging and enthralling. There is a lot of violence, but in a movie about samuri you expect it.

The final battle scene was spectalur and probably one of the longest, continuous battle scenes I have seen on film in recent history, but it was amazing.

If you don't speak Japanese and can deal with 2 hours of subtitles (I have no problem with subtitled movies) I highly recommend this film.

I can't think of one bad thing about the entire film.

[SIZE=2]As requested, a couple of early RJ hardcovers at cover price, and a limited at a bargain price.

Also as requested, The Little Beige Book of Nondescript Stories below the going price.

I've been surprised how fast the red leather Midnight Mass has sold. We started with 8, now we're down to 2.

I know I am going to get shit for this, I am positive people are going to talk smack behind my back, but I of course am turning to the people on the board whom I consider friends, to take advantage of that friendship by begging for help in funding our Genrefinity: The Movie project on Kickstarter.

http://kck.st/nTSG44

I am not going to go into detail about the project here, that is all on the Kickstarter page. But I do know that in the past, the forum has been gracious in supporting indie projects. A while back a comic book artist was able to fund his indie project by having his link posted here.

I will say that the film is being written by me, Marc, and creative input by Mike Turman (Aphew). The original 4-episode series sits at a 92% certified funny rating on Funny or Die, and we are offering some great incentives.

So with all that said, help out in anyway you can. Even if you can only contribute a few bucks. The best part about Kickstarter is that you will not pay a thing unless the project is fully funded. You are simply making a pledge.

Thank you for at least reading what I have to say, and I promise, I will not spam the board further.

has sibs ever been revised? just started reading it, and i know it's supposed to take place not long before "the tomb", which was revised, but the pop culture/technological references are very much early 90's..
