Since we've asked the question who would win between Jack and Jake Naught, I've got a new scenario. So without further ado:

Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to the Who Would Win (WWW) Title match for the Heavyweight Wolrd Championship, and these are heavyweights! In the blue corner, standing seven feet tall and weighing in at 280 pounds, armed with razor sharp talons and fangs, Impervious to every thing but fire and steel, SCARLIP THE RAKOSHI !
And in the red corner, standing six feet six inches and weighing in at 270 pounds, armed only with his speciel forces knife and a butane lighter, KEK, THE MANDRILLA !
Place your bets! Big Grin

Now that's a thread headline that'll get your attention!

It comes, however, from an email discussion I'm having with a fellow board member.

I've noticed that there are several FPW stories where children are horribly maimed and tortured, among them, "The Wringer," "Black Wind," and "Reprisal."

I don't know of another author, at least none with which I am familiar, who feels so.... umm, comfortable ... in writing about the awful abuse of children. Actually more than awful abuse, it's downright torture. Now, I have to say that I've been able to stomach the scenes, although I was more horrified by "Black Wind" than the others.

I think this is another facet of FPW that separates him from all the rest. He's willing to go where few others do.

Although, should the killing or torturing of animals ever happen, that is where I have to draw the line.

So what does that say about me, willing to read about the torture of children, but, for God's sake, DON'T KILL THE DOG!

I know there are several people here that use Netflix. They have a new feature available called Friends of Netflix. It allows Netflix members to invite others to view the movies they've rented and show the ratings, reviews, etc. It supposedly allows you to also recommend movies to your friends.

I thought this might be fun for us here. So if anyone is interested, you can go to http://www.netflix.com/FriendPage for more information. And if you'd like to add me to your list, my e-mail addy for Netflix is thunderclap82@comcast.net.

Today, I watched "Sengoku Jieitai"(1979). Has anyone seen this movie?

It's a strange movie. But It's one of my favorite movie. This is time travel movie. Story is Self Defence Force vs Samurai worriors. Do you know those movies, "The Final Countdown" and "Philadelphia Experiment" ? It's similar to those movies. Theme is time travel and war.

This year, remake version of Sengoku Jieitai does release at Japan. Original is 26 years ago, so maybe SFX and camera work got progress. But I think it can't get over original. Good actors starred in original. One of them, Shinichi Chiba. He was good.(Still, he is good, of course). And, Hiroyuki Sanada, who appear in "The Last Samurai",appear in original movie.

If you have opportunity, see this movie. I recommend it.

This is remake version's trailer. Check it.

I'd love to hear what the Forum members think about this.

One of the fascinating aspects of RJ's personality for me is his duality. RJ is a likable, kind, even gentle soul. Yes, he tends to be very intense in most of he aspects of his life, but this is not a negative character trait in him. In short, RJ would be a fun guy to have a beer with and maybe watching some old sci-fi movies with. However, there is the other aspect of RJ: when he gets mad, he changes. He becomes a violent, angry individual that, on some level, even scares himself. Certainly, Gia has troubles with this aspect. It is this change he undergoes that fascinates me.
Initially, he comes across as a Schizoid Personality Disorder, but he isn't: He has few close friends, but he does have them. He also has a wider range of good acquaintances as well. Another easy 25-cent diagnosis would be that he has an illness called Intermittent Explosive Disorder, meaning that someone can lose control because of anger. However, this is clearly not the case with RJ. He does not lose control when he becomes angry: quite the opposite. There is no other time that he is so focused. While this rules out a medical condition for this duality, it reminds me of certain individuals I have seen and met. Most of us have specific things happen to us when we get scared. Adrenaline (called epinephrine) flows through our bloodstream causing rapid heartbeat, shaking voice, tremors. Just do a little public speaking, and you'll know what I mean. There are the very rare individuals who don't get these physical symptoms, and in fact react in the opposite way becoming more focused. The extreme calm of Roger Staubach in the last two minutes of the game when everything is on the line is an example. These people use their adrenaline almost as a performance enhancing drug.
What lies in his future? RJ is trying to quit the business for Gia. Yet, many of these people who have these reaction are called adrenaline junkies. While they are not addicts in the true sense of the word, most people find it very hard to give up the rush. How many of those athletes, for example, give up their careers in their prime? Not many. As a result, I think that because of this adrenaline caused duality in RJ's personality, he is going to have a very very tough time carrying out the life style change that he needs for his relationship.

This idea just came to me. Okay, this would be very un-Hollywood-like but what would you say if they marketed the Repairman Jack movies without identifying who is cast as Jack? No mention in the posters, no direct shots of his face in the trailers, no top billing in the opening titles of the film, silhouette and altered voice for the press interviews, etc. Like or dislike?

Garden State is a low-key charmer, a dramedy if you will. It deals with an issue that I feel is going to become more prevalent as medicated kids start reaching adulthood and stop taking their meds. Definitely worth the rent.

I just saw the first hour of "Firefly," which I rented from Netflix. I think this disc has 180 minutes, so I've got two hours left.

I am really liking it. The acting is just fine, Jim. Except for the young girl who was shot in the stomach (still haven't figured out everyone's names yet), everyone is just dandy. However, the gut shot girl is fetching in her sweetly girlish way and has a dazzling smile, so her so-so acting can be overlooked.

I've been a fan of Adam Baldwin ever since I saw him in "My Bodyguard" in 1980. Sweet movie, if you've never seen it, with Matt Dillion and Ruth Gordon.

It's also nice to see Ron Glass back in action. I know he's been doing things since "Barney Miller," but I haven't seen much of him.

Select your all-time favorite RJ book from this poll list.

Notice that Infernal isn't included (for obvious reasons).

I've just finished Artifact and I was curious, How much of FPW is in this book? Did he just help with the story? Was any of the printed book in his words? I'm curious because it wasn't his style of writing I thought. If anyone has any info on the making of this book I would appreciate it.
