Anyone else a fan of this TV show?

The local UPN affiliate here finally put it back on the air every weeknight. This show was one of my favorites. It did go decidedly down hill after Phil Hartman was killed, but the shows with the original cast still crack me up. It just plays to my type of humor very well I guess.

I just saw this last weekend. Well, the last 2/3rds of it anyway. I have to say, this was one of the better karate movies I've seen. The fight coordination wasn't up to par with others I've watched or at least to what I remember, but it had a lot of imagination. When I turned it on I saw this old man jump on top of a building holding a funny-looking red hat with a chain attached. Then he threw it on this one-armed man's head, a curtain fell from it and the old man ripped the one-armed man's head off! After that, I had to watch. I found out where Dhalsim from the Street Fighter II video game comes from when the one-armed boxer (different guy) fought an Indian who dislocated his arms as he fought to extend his punches. And my favorite scene was the boxer fighting the shoe-less flunky of the blind man in a metal-floored hut superheated by fire. I just had to share this little gem.

No, that's not a typo. Apparently it means Personalized web LOG.

Anyhoo, I went over to amazon, on which I have an account and automatically sign in. Well there on the front page (of my PLOG) was a pic of Paul (the dated photo which he still uses on his books Wink ) and a little entry:

One hell of a frustrating month. On the 20th, ABC-TV passed on the pilot for The Touch. A week later they call the writer back and say they're still interested and want to meet about it. I've got whiplash. They'll meet in early February to discuss the project. I think it could be a great series--not just because it's based on my work, but because it can go so much further than the novel.

No response yet from the double-secret actor on the Repairman Jack script.

A bright spot: I signed a contract for 2 more Repairman Jack novels.

February should be better. That's when we start to play catch-up with the Repairman Jack paperbacks. Gateways is officially released on the 6th, with Crisscross coming in June, and Infernal in the fall.

Stay tuned. I'll keep you posted.

I was looking at fan films on line and came across www.batinthesun.com. They are currently working on a film called Patient J and the description seems awfully familiar.

"In the basement of Arkham Asylum, a desperate psychologist has secretly set up an interview with the mass-muredering Joker. As the Clown Prince of Crime reflects on the key moments of his life, the interview drifts into a game of manipulation that flirts with life and death."

The gang at BITS may go their own route with this but from the description the first thing that popped into my head was DT.

And I know I spelled Definitive wrong in the subject, but too late to change it.

Keep your eyes peeled for the Gateways paperback. The official pub date is 2/7 but the books often hit the racks early. List sightings here.

So, what do you think.... Is the King [now, officially] dead?

Do you know "A Modern Treasury of Great Detective & Murder Mysteries"? It's a long title, don't you think? And this is an anthology book. Japanese title is "Shi no hikou"(Death Flight).

Check this "A Modern Treasury of Great Detective & Murder Mysteries"

Edited by Ed Gorman, and authors are Charlotte MacLeod, Sara Paretsky, Joan Hess, Faye Kellerman, Ed McBain, etc etc....and F.Paul Wilson's "Faces"! Cool I had already read Faces in "The Barrens and Others", but that's English edition. Today, fortunately I found out "vol.2" in used book store. I couldn't find out "vol.1" though.

Most good point of anthology, that's because we can read many authors's short stories. Charlotte MacLeod's short story, "More like Martine" was 16 pages only, and it was very dark and fascinating story. Of course, "Faces" is a best one in this book, but I'll enjoy other stories too! Smile

Today I saw Flightplan.

* * * * * Minor Spolier * * * * *

When I first saw trailer, it reminded me of "Forgotten". But "Flightplan" is not supernatural thriller. So it was reasonable than "Forgotten". Kyle Pratt(Jodie Foster) and her daughter, Julia, they go from Berlin to New York by plane. After takeoff, three hours later, Kyle found her daughter's missing. She try to search for daughter. Of course, she's on plane, so her daughter can't go anywhere. Moreover, all passengers didn't notice her daughter. Kyle fell into panic."WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER?!"

This is like a "Panic Room" meet "Airport". Jodie Foster's acting was always best, and of course in this "Flightplan", she's brilliant too. But if she's my plane's passenger, I'll throw out her. This is a good movie, but she's sometimes irritated me. Rolleyes

By the way, Jodie Foster visited to Tokyo for publicity. This is her interview. She's cool.

I was reading infernal and came across something that blew my mind. It was such a small detail but it really made me feel odd.

Here comes the spoiler.

When Tom Jr. realizes what kind of work Jack does and finds the credit card receipt from the gas stop in Bermuda he sees the name John Tyleski (something like that) on it. He thinks to himself..."The first name was right but the last name..."

Now, I know that Jack is a nickname for John, like JFK was John Kennedy but everyone called him Jack.

I don't know why this blew my mind, I guess I felt like I knew Jack, knew his personal thoughts and what he went through in his life. To find out that his name is John was a bit of a shock.

Unless of course I read the passage entirely wrong and if that is the case I am an idiot and one of the moderators can delete this thread to protect my reading comprehension ability.
