9/1 - The F Files went out this a.m. and damn, a couple of "smart quotes" sneaked in and came out as "?" - hate that

9/1 - Holy crap! Hard to believe the guy walked away! http://tinyurl.com/m3y6n6b

9/1 - it's Labor Day weekend. And I'm laboring. Which is as it should be, I guess.

9/2 - Sayonara, tokusatsu? :-( http://tinyurl.com/pajh4uf

9/1 - anyone else watching the French crime series, "Engrenages" (Spiral)? Is it just me or is Audrey Fleurot hot?

9/1 - Holy crap! Hard to believe the guy walked away! http://tinyurl.com/m3y6n6b

9/2 - I keep telling people, punctuation is important: http://tinyurl.com/lr3x8m7

9/3 - RiP Fred Pohl. One of the fathers of modern SF. My first signing (at a B. Dalton in Toms River) was with Fred and Barry Malzberg and Isaac Asimov.

9/4 - heard from Otto Penzler my novelette "The Compendium of Srem" is scheduled for December publication in Mysterious Press's Bibliomystery line.

9/4 - just learned that the limited first edition of A NECESSARY END by Sarah Pinborough and yrs trly will be part of the Maelstrom IV package this Halloween. http://tinyurl.com/nfrgwrc

9/4 - Had to happen: Miley Cyrus and Capt. Kirk (some excellent editing here) http://www.theburningplatform.com/?p=60051

9/5 - I can see myself falling for this. http://tinyurl.com/n4bzjxd

9/8 - a definite End Times cloud. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap130908.html

9/8 - Having a fantasy football team changes everything. I'm rooting for teams I never cared about.

9/9 - Flipping a picture of hanging bats = coolness: http://pic.twitter.com/QlpqMdl0fd

9/10 - Disappointed in the recent "Luther" run. Lazy writing and idiot plotting. Not even Alice Morgan could save it.

9/11 - Something to think about... http://fb.me/Jpf6fCTC

9/14 - Is it wrong to take such inordinate pleasure writing in the voice of a character who totally destroys the English language?

9/16 - Hmmm...comparing my dialogue to Elmore Leonard's. I think I like this DARK CITY review... http://tinyurl.com/ksxayja

9/17 - I'm told John Wayne saw Ramino with Groucho on this TV segment and hired him for "Rio Bravo." Maybe true, maybe not, but it's a funny segment. http://tinyurl.com/p4p7ybf

9/18 - I like the Eagles, but if "Desperado" was on eternal replay, I can understand: http://tinyurl.com/l6scuad

9/19 - Bouchercon 2013, here I come. Three hours on the road should do it.

9/22 - Lots of folks asking for a sequel to MIDNIGHT MASS over the years. The book keeps selling and people keep asking. So I turned off the radio on the 3-hour drive home from Bouchercon and came up with some unique major elements and conflicts that will keep it from being a simple rehash of MM. It's not ready to write yet, but when it is, I hope there's room on my plate to write it. Because it's looking like fun.

9/25 - Heather Graham and I did the final tweaks on "Infernal Night," our story for the FACE OFF anthology.

9/26 - Well, I was going to tell people about this new Kickstarter thing to fund a giant Creepy/Eerie type horror anthology and tell you that you had a chance to be killed in my story, but that reward disappeared immediately. Sorry. Anyway, it's going to be a great collection. Take a look http://tinyurl.com/pemmwfm ;

9/27 - Oh, yay. The page proofs for the NIGHTWORLD mass market pb arrove. Do you know how many times I've read this sucker in its varying iterations over the past twenty+ years? Neither do I.

9/28 - "Broadchurch" - watched the finale last night - wrenching. An excellent miniseries, perfect for binge watching.

9/29 - saw opening night (previews) of "A Time to Kill" on B'way. The upside: good cast and super stagecraft. Downside: no standout performance (Ashley Williams did the most with her supporting role) and needs some scenes cut. Must-see theater? No. But a solid courtroom drama.

In the first couple of RJ books (from The Tomb on) Jack's brother is a doctor and his sister the lawyer. Then later their roles were reversed. What happened?

Sorry if this question has been asked about a zilliion times - I searched a bit for it. Maybe worth an addition to the FAQ file?

I love the books!

Weird message carved by Navy Yard murderer into the stock of his Remington 1100 shotgun.

I have a possible interpretation that makes SOME sense, but may still be delusional.

ELF stands for Extremely Low Frequency. The Navy's ELF antennas are located in the bed of the Great Lakes. They stretch for tens of miles. They are used to communicate with submerged submarines (particularly nuclear ballistic missile submarines). It takes an hour to send one word.

Alexis was complaining about microwaves, which are at the opposite end of the spectrum from ELF. Microwaves are infinitesimally short, while ELF wavelength is incomparably huge.

Don't believe his brain was affected by ELF, though.

A lot of folks are quick to state their favorites, but what films did you absolutely despise (by genre)? Granted, "The Keep" did not live up to the novel, but it was far from the worst.

Me first:

Science Fiction: "Maximum Overdrive." (Steven King is turning in his grave. But, he's alive. This will kill him!)

Western: "The Misouri Breaks" (Marlon Brando in a dress!)

John Wayne: "The Conqueror" (The Duke as Ghengis and Endora as Mom. Shot at an A-bomb test site, this killed a bunch of the cast, eventually.)

That's just off the top of my "head."

I wouldn't have thought of this if Paul didn't have connections with Kojima.

In Metal Gear Solid 4 you can get the Tanegashima, a weapon that has a small chance to create a black whirlwind called Divine Wind that kills all of the enemies in the area.

A new series that has just started. The Horseman and Crane....in modern times. Just the right amount of creepy and goosebump inducing mirror tricks. I really like this one.
