I have been faithfully reading each RJ book as it comes out and loving each and every one of them.

But it has been quite some time since Haunted Air came out, and unless I missed something - I still don't know who that little girl ghost is supposed to be!

Who is she? Or who was she? How does she figure into the whole scheme of things? Why was she so angry towards Gia and her baby?

I've been hammering TCM to get them to run new copies of THE BOWERY BOYS which are now owned by Warner Brothers. How about some help from you lovers of the lowbrow?
Go to TCM website and hit "Suggest A Movie".
I used to watch them on WNEW Channel 5 NY back in the 60's-80's and got hooked and actually saw a copy of "THE PHYNX" just for the Gorcey/Hall cameo.
Name your favorites!

Hey gang, sorry it's been a long time since I checked in here. I owe quite a few of you an apology. Those waiting for inscribed copies of BLOODLINE have been waiting too long.

You may have heard that I'm shutting down the store eventually. This won't affect any preorders -- we'll be fulfilling all preorders for years to come, but I won't be getting any newly announced titles or restocking when I'm sold out. (Long story as to why I'm shutting down, but this is one of two full time jobs for me, and I'm exhausted, so I'm going to focus on doing consulting for authors at night while still working for Simon & Schuster by day).

Back to BLOODLINE: the delay on the inscriptions is purely my fault, not Paul's in the least. I wasn't able to get down to see him the last few weeks, I will be seeing him this weekend, however, at a convention and will get all the books signed and then shipped out via Priority Mail.

Additionally, anyone who's waiting on an inscribed copy will also get an email gift certificate from me next week for $10 at Shocklines.com so you can go get some free magazines or chapbooks or something. This is to thank you for the delay.

The reason I had to charge you before we got the inscriptions is that once we get the inscription, if I can't sell the book, it's pretty worthless with someone else's name in it. But I didn't think it would take me this long after charging you to get the inscription. Again, I apologize profusely for the delay on these inscriptions.

Updates on other FPW items:
  • Tery Paperback -- we expect them in any day now, and expect to get them signed by Paul in early August (he's going to Comicon the week after this one, so I can't grab him then).
  • Black Wind HC -- shipping very very soon from Borderlands Press. Inscribed copies will probably take about 2 more weeks than non-inscribed copies to arrive.
  • Peabody HC (Necessary Evil Press) -- noninscribed copies are expected to ship late next week. Early August for inscribed copies.
  • Sex Slaves CD/Chapbook -- supposedly getting this very soon from Borderlands Press.
  • Virgin Paperback -- due any day now in our warehouse from Borderlands Press, I believe
  • Adversary Cycle slipcase -- these may take quite a while to produce. No firm ship date yet.

Again, thanks for everyone's patience, and a HUGE thank you for all of your patronage over the years.

Matt

A few weeks ago, I received email from Thomas Monteleone of Borderlands Press. He asked me about Japanese title of "Black Wind". You know it's "Kuroi Kaze". So I built Japanese characters by paint, and I sent it to him.

Now, finally, the cover design has finished. This is it!

I checked it, but...... Second character's position is a wrong. It need to turn 90 degree left!

I'm not sure it's intentionally or typo....well, but it's cool. Wink

Today, after I saw new Harry Potter movie, I saw another movie, "Renaissance". It's full CG animation, but different than other CG animation. It's black & white film noir. The movie reminded me of Blade Runner. Animation-like Blade Runner!

If this film was a live action film, it would probably be one of the worst movies of the year. However, the wonderful new animation style makes the film enthralling to look at. Beautiful, dazzling, and then characters start to talk. The animated French future noir was like a walking-talking comic book. Crisp and high contrast black & white, Renaissance could capture the feel of old film noir films from the 40s and 50s. Light and shadow were employed with astonishing effect for an animated film. The futuristic Paris was meticulously designed. It was not color film, but it was very beautiful. Smile

took my daughter to see it yesterday, couldn't beleive we even got seats the theater was positively PACKED with people dressed in witch n wizard gear- all adults, go figure.

SPOILER ALERT

Lots and lots of key information and events missing (the other rooms at the dept of mysteries, prophecy being made by Trewlany and ALL it entailed, fred n george's swamp- I really wanted to see that!, Kreature and the Noble House of Black), major mistakes (Cho telling on the DA? no statues coming to life to fight at the Ministry) and lousy shortcuts to info (like omitting the visit to st mungo's and what was learned there).. they showed us Nevill's Bubotuber plant but then prompty forgot it existed- there was a lot of that in the way of dead ends.

I also thought the cgi quality was really low this time around, particularly with the centaurs.

Bri liked it, but she would have liked it no matter what. I know they only have so long to work with but c'mon...worst HP, hands down. Seriously disapointed.

Recently, I submitted a teleplay to NBC for one of their shows, Medium. I don't know how long it takes for them to review--anyone else submitted something to any of the major networks? What was your experience?
