I was just wondering, besides Lycos, Joox and Joost-how many of these movie and television view/download sites are there? How would you rate them? Are they free or pay?
Let's hear your input!

I am 100 pages into it and I have to say, WOW. What a great story and for me it is so personal. I grew up on the Jersey Shore and spent most of my life there. I spent summer as Sandy hook Beaches and as a teen I frequented the Point Pleasant Boardwalk. By my 20's I spent a lot of time in Manasquan and had too many evenings I can't recall at Jenks. My family actually lived in Lakewood for a while, but moved out just before the Orthodox influx. When FPW mentioned "Arnold Ave", I laughed, there is comedy club on Arnold ave where i have performed many times.

My point is that this book has made the horror of the events in this book SO much more real because all those places in the book are like my home. I hope that everyone gets to have a personal experience like this with a book.

Thanks FPW!

For being the 80th Annual Academy Awards, I personally felt last night's Oscars were kind of "average." Granted, there were a bunch of rewarding turnouts (Tilda Swinton), a bunch of welcome surprises (The Bourne Ultimatum is now a three-time Academy Award-winner!), a few areas of disappointment (not ONE of the songs from Enchanted won...bugh), and at least one Inevitable Win That I Didn't Want (Daniel Day-Lewis...I'm sorry, but Viggo Mortensen was so damn unique!). However, just a few things that kind of irked me about the overall show...
  • The writing/skit qualities were MAJORLY varied (I got very bored with the Halle Berre/Seth Rogan/Jonah Hill jokes, very fast)
  • Amy Adams performed only ONE of the two songs she sang from Enchanted (I'm sorry, but that operetta rendition of "That's How You Know" not only butchered the song, but showed how much Amy was needed to give it its, well, magic!)
  • And if this was a numbered list, this would be the absolute number one: NOT A SINGLE MENTION OF ROY SCHEIDER (R.I.P.)! I'm most disappointed. Not once during the memorial list was he mentioned, and even more insultingly, after the commercial break, Amy Adams's presentation of the Best Music award started with the theme from JAWS! How insulting to the man's memory!
So, overall, this was not quite the 80th anniversary of the Oscars that I was expecting...did anyone else had "problems" with it?

I remember reading in an F File the pronunciation of Rasalom (rah-sah-lom) and started wondering about other pronunciations as I'm reading through Rakoshi.

First, Rakoshi. I flip between two. Rack-oh-shee and Rah-koh-shee.

And Gia. I dunno. I've always said Guy-ah but one of my friends says Gee-ah. Maybe I'm just associating Gia with Gaia.

I refer to that brilliant scene in Norman Jewison's 1975 opus,
where the late Sir Ralph Richardson plays the head Librarian
at the World Computer, in Geneva, Switzerland (a device
which contains all the combined knowledge of man)...

Check out this excellent article about the Packard Campus of
the Library of Congress (LOC) National Audio-Visual Conservation

I need a 'Fix Index', a document that lists each of the fixes Jack's used and the circumstances he found himself in that led to that solution. I'm trying to convince someone that they did not see several of the scenes I've described in 'some movie somewhere', but can't recall the names of the books for each fix, offhand.

Is there such a document, or have I just painted myself into the dreaded corner of 'I need this but it doesn't exist ... yet'?

Of course, if he has seen (for example) a helicopter dumping tires and oil on a crime boss during a party, I think FPW should be made aware of the name of the film or television show, the production company, and where to find their lawyers' soft underbellies. Wink

I'm trying to remember the name of a movie, unfortunately I can't remember any of the actors, or the actual plot....just a scene......it is a horror movie from the 80's I believe...If anyone is fairly familiar with horror movies, especilly rather grade be movies, and is willing to attempt to help figure out the title I'd appreciate it.

Today I saw "Day Watch". Has anyone seen this?

I enjoyed first film "Night Watch". But this time, last 20~30 minutes only were good. Actually, some scenes confused me. I still don't understand the reason of swapped bodies of Anton and Olga. Was that a need?

But, well....visual effect was excellent as much as Night Watch.

The threads Movies =worse= Than The Books? and Movies Better Than The Books They're Based On got me thinking about movies that get remade.
Can a remake be better than the original?

I don't have the answers, but I thought it could be interesting to start a thread with all the questions you may have about LOST that haven't been answered, at least, not yet.

So, here's a few of mine. Just questions, no theories.

First, of course, what is the smoke monster?

What actually cured Locke's paralysis?

What's up with that 4-toed statue?

What made Rousseau's original crew sick, so sick that she felt she had to kill them to keep whatever it was from spreading into the world?

What or who are the whisperers?

How come Richard Alpert hasn't aged?

Where did Richard Alpert and his crew come from? How did they come to be on the Island?

Where did Michael and Walt wind up? (We'll find that out soon.)

How come Hurley hasn't lost any significant weight?

Why did little baby Aaron HAVE to born on the Island, as Claire's psychic said?

That's a beginning. What are your unanswered questions?
