I have been lurking for a number of weeks, waiting for my account to be approved…may the Otherness-spawned minions of Rasalom, responsible for spamming this site with junk account applications, all be terminated with extreme prejudice by the Yenicari.

Ahem. Don't worry, the lithium's starting to kick in.

While I lurked, I had some time to drill through the RJ Movie threads…some very interesting facts and speculation there. I have an interesting bit of "coincidence" regarding a possible Director.

A brief summary: Beacon Communications is the production company, Ryan Reynolds is cast as Jack, and Chris Morgan wrote the most recent version of the script…but no Director, yet...and FPW has been eerily silent since December on his RJ Movie News Blog, so…

…release the hounds!

Chris Morgan looks to have some interesting writing credits: Cellular, Tokyo Drift, Wanted (Summer 2008 release), Fast and Furious 4 (filming) and, of course, Rakoshi. "Wanted", Chris' next movie, is a bullet-time action extravagonzo starring Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, etc.

On the Director front, my top choice was Guillermo Del Toro; and then he signed on for the Hobbit until 2010. After that he is scheduled to direct and produce his own screenplay of HPL’s ATMOM…so he’s no longer an option for Jack 1; maybe Jack 2 or 3 (he did Blade 2, after all).

Another of my favourite horror/action directors is Timor Bekmambetov, whose movies Nightwatch, Daywatch, and Twilightwatch (in production) are discussed in a different thread.

What I did not realize, until a month ago, was that Bekmambetov ALSO directed Wanted!

So, a screenplay by the writer who also adapted "Rakoshi" has already been directed by one of the hottest horror/action directors on the planet!

When it comes to Jack, there are no more coincidences, but what about Jack’s movie? Dare we hope that this unexpected convergence is foreshadowing for good things to come?

Who’s your favourite choice for Director of the first “Jack” movie (Rakoshi)?

-Wapitikev

PS-Please forgive the newbie for the horrible B-movie title of this thread...it is an homage to Jack's love of old, sometimes cheesily-titled monster movies.

The final season of Battlestar Galactica is about to start up again and there are going to be a lot of answers.
One of the things hinted at is that a civil war might be starting up among the Cylons (the original machines as seen in "Razor" against the Cylon clones).
Is Kira (Starbuck) a Cylon?
The revealed Cylon Agents-are they really Cylons? Brainwashed plants? What will they do?
Tune in!

I had mentioned a great Jack idea would be Abe, Gia and Vicky on a camping trip and Jack's reaction to the great outdoors and I had offered some time ago an idea to Paul about Jack dragging poor Abe to a Horror Show Convention (the story would be told from Abe's viewpoint) so I thought it would be fun to put Jack in a situation that maybe our Leader could use down the road (and we can also laugh at the thought of our favorite hero being caught up in a nutty situation).
I'll go first.
A dripping pipe at Sutton Place. Jack decides he can fix it. Jack doesn't know the first thing about plumbing. We watch Jack go through the moves of what to buy-how to fix-what the end will be like (and if anybody out there by now knows me by now I'd put the guy through the worst torture imagined with this little task-with Gia saying over and over "Shouldn't we get a plumber to fix this?").

Does anyone find it creepy that Daniel Radcliffe is going to be 21 when part 2 of Deathly Hollows comes out in May 2011?

I'm sure many of you have seen it. I was a HUGE hulk fan as a child, Lou Ferigno is who made me hit the gym as soon as I was old enough. I watched the TV show, the cartoons, even collected some of the comics. Needless to say, I was disappointed with Ang lee's take on our favorite green giant a few years ago. I am also a huge Ed Norton fan, so I have high hope for this movie. From this trailer I think we might be in for a treat...but I don't want to hold my breath:

Hi! I joined in December and I was just wondering what everyone's favorite Repairman Jack scene is. I know that all of the books are wonderful, but I was just wondering if anyone liked a specific part. My favorites would be when he saves his dad from the tornado and yells at it and the part about the eyeballs. I love the way he can morph himself to fit into any situation. He has played loads of personas, varying from gay men to nerds. I just thought that I would get some opinions from other people. Thanks!

I took my kids to see this yesterday and it was pretty cool. The creatures are fantastic looking, the acting solid, the story so-so. No need to rush out to see it, but you could do a lot worse.

I would be so happy if I could hear someone say they loved this. It would make me think maybe I was alone with what I thought. Oh well: this is just what I thought. See it and judge for yourself.

See, for me, 10,000 BC was very disappointing! Not terrible, not quite on par with other disastrous epic flicks like Troy, but the film's potential for a journey to greatness is far longer than anything its characters had to take. Not nearly enough action, monsters, or adventure - mostly just "epic journeying," with some fights and creatures thrown in to keep the audience awake (if they're not completely comatose). C'maaaan...! This should have been terrific fun. *shakes head sadly* Nope. 'tweren't for me!

I got fed up with getting bill collectors and screwed up phone bills so I opted outta my phone plan and opened up a prepaid account... Under the Name John Tyleski.

Couldn't help it.

Now I will never get another Bill collection call or anything from several stalkers I accumulated over the years.

Now I truly understand Jacks sense of freedom. Living under assumed names is great.
