Bob May, who operated The Robot in the original Irwin Allen series "Lost in Space" passed away in Lancaster, CA on January 18. He was uncredited on the original series and Dick Tufield supplied the voice.

Even as kids, we knew Lost in Space could be very cheesy, yet we never missed an episode if we could avoid it. The Robot was a very comforting presence in that show. Although we could never figure out why his parents sent Will out alone with Dr. Smith time and again, you knew The Robot would do its best to protect him.

I just thought May should be remembered.

Does anyone remember the name of this movie? People go into a factory and never come out. At the end, there is a mud-like creature in the place. British flick, if memory serves.

AC

P.S. Thanks ahead of time.

Has anyone heard of this? Written, directed and starring Sylvester Stallone. About a team of mercenaries sent to South America to overthrow a dictator.

Also starring Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Forest Whitaker. I have high hopes for this movie. So far there's only this picture. Filming starts next month and it's scheduled to come out in 2010.

Bug...

First, I thought this movie is a kind of "attack of killer insects" or something else. But it wasn't. I didn't know it was based on off-Broadway plays.

"Bug" is a psychological thriller. Also it's very creepy and strange movie. Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon infected by something. They thought those are "bugs". They see them on a microscope, and they shout "Ewwww! Bugs!". But we(audiences) can't see those bugs. We're not sure they're saying truth. Perhaps their delusion?

The movie's runtime is 107 min, but first 1 hour is dull. But! But you should wait an hour patiently(or push FF button). Last 47 min was horrific.
Some scenes are too painful, and you won't forget that last scene. It's an insane moment I've never seen before......

William Friedkin did good job. But his best work was "The Exorcist", of course.

An easy one to track down? Rare? Hard To Find? Plentiful? And why is the paperback version of Reprisal so darn expensive? Every used paperback I find online is like $20.00 or more!

This just in from HWA:

The Horror Writers Association has chosen two long-time icons of the genre to receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award this year. The award, given for an author’s overall body of work, will go to Chelsea Quinn Yarbro and to F. Paul Wilson.

Yarbro rose to fame with her vampire hero, Count Saint-Germain. She is the first woman ever to receive the International Horror Guild’s Living Legend award. She also was the first woman elected president of the Horror Writers Association. Yarbro's novels are notable for laying the groundwork for the recent upsurge of "paranormal romance" and trans-genre fiction.

Wilson is best known for his Repairman Jack series of novels, though those are only a part of his more than 40-book canon. In 1979 he won the first Prometheus Award and claimed a Porgie Award in 1984. He won a Bram Stoker Award in 1999 and has been recognized by the American Library Association and the New York Public Library.

Deb LeBlanc, current HWA president, said, “Both of our winners this year have made incredible contributions to the field of dark literature. We are very pleased to add Chelsea and Paul to our roster of LAA recipients.”

The Lifetime Achievement Award is the most prestigious of the Bram Stoker Awards, given by the HWA in acknowledgment of superior achievement not just in a single work but over an entire career. Past Lifetime Achievement Award winners include such noted authors as Stephen King, Anne Rice, Joyce Carol Oates, Ray Bradbury, and Peter Straub. Winners must have exhibited a profound, positive impact on the fields of horror and dark fantasy, and be at least sixty years of age or have been published for a minimum of thirty-five years.

The LAA will be presented as part of the 2009 Stoker Awards Weekend conference to be held June 12-14 at the Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel and Convention Center in Burbank, Calif.
The Horror Writers Association is a worldwide organization promoting dark literature and its creators. Started in 1985, it has over 500 members who are writing professionally in fiction, nonfiction, videogames, films, comics, and other media.
To learn more about this year’s winners, visit them online. Wilson can be found at www.repairmanjack.com and Yarbro at www.chelseaquinnyarbro.net.

Dimension films has confirmed that they have hired scribe Kevin Williamson to work on a screenplay for a fourth installment of the long dormant Scream franchise.

Studio insiders state that this new installment will be younger and more fresh. Financial offers were made to the remaining cast of the original trilogy, Courtney Cox, neve Campbell and David Arquette to reprise their respective roles in cameos for the new film.

Williamson has begun work on a spec script which will most likely not be the actual working script. The studio is shooting for a 2011 release.
