No one I know wants to see this film. It strikes them as anti-Mexican. It's not. No more, anyway, than Napoleon Dynamite was anti-Anglo (btw, did you know that the ND love interest was the little girl with the tattoo on her back in Waterworld?). Besides, the film captured a very surreal picture of the Mexican barrio, similar to East LA's very own Lower Eastside: Poverty and neon. Visually, it was very interesting. Good story, but unnecessary fart jokes (that seems to be the "in" thing these days in most comedies). I liked the movie alot, but it should have been funnier, like the movie "Cars" should have been funnier. I give NL a C+.

AC

P.S. If you like old style Mexican wrestling, you're in for a treat. If you aren't familiar with Mil Mascaras and Los Medicos, then the movie might fall flat.

P.P.S. I grew up watching Dick Lane and Mexican/American wrestling at the Olympic Auditorium every Thursday night. The movie is a wink to this era.

Jor-El:

"You will travel far, my little Kal-El. But we will never
leave you... even in the face of our deaths... the richness
of our lives shall be yours. All that I have, all that I've
learned, everything I feel... all this, and more... I
bequeath you, my son. You will carry me inside you all the
days of your life. You will make my strength your own, and
see my life through your own eyes, as your life will be seen
through mine. The son becomes the father, and the father the
son. This is all I can send you, Kal-El.

Live as one of them, Kal-El, to discover where your strength
and your power are needed. Always hold in your heart the pride
of your special heritage. They can be a great people, Kal-El,
they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way.
For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have
sent them you... my only son."

For lovers of great sketch comedy you are doing yourself a HUGE disservice by not tuning into the BBC America on Sunday nights and watching the Catherine Tate Show. She is WONDERFUL!

From a refuge set up for Ginger people (Red heads) to a drunk real estate agent to a class of cockney highschoolers (Am I bothered?) this show is truly the funniest thing I have seen on TV for quite some time. Think Tracy Ullman and you get a general idea only funnier.

Make sure you stick around after The Catherine Tate Show for Spaced, another great comedy by Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead).

I was sitting with my boss in her office yesterday approving employee merit increases and we were shooting the shit about life in general. I told her that I have over 84,000 words in my novel that I am writing write now and she feigned pleasant surprise. She asked me if I was going to let my friend read it and I was confused by whom she meant. She clarified: "Your author friend."

I said, "Oh, you mean New York Times bestselling Author F. Paul Wilson!" This is how I refer to Paul whenever I speak to the unenlightened. Well it was at this point that the HR manager Suzanne burst into the office and says excitedly... "Did you say F Paul Wilson, he is my favorite writer!"

Well, I had never had much to do with HR or Suzanne in general but in that instant I turned heterosexual and she and I are getting married.

Okay, that last part didn't happen but it is so awesome to know that someone else in this square state knows a great storyteller when she sees one.

She is going to borrow the adversary cycle from me as she is only familiar with jack right now and some medical thrillers. She will be well versed in all things FPW and may even begin posting on the board.

I picked up this book almost 20 years ago and couldn't put it down. The movie based on it was...interesting...to say the least.

I lost possession of the book a while back and have often wished I still had it.

I went to B&N yesterday to see if maybe they might have it. Much to my surprise, "The Keep" is being reprinted and reissued in August!

Yes!

I know everyone enjoys Repairman Jack...but enjoy this introduction to Molassar...or Rassalom...or any other anagram he can come up with.

Anyone else get their copies yet?

Mine is #27.

Also, when can we expect to get the big box to put the whole BP AC set into?

I'm planning out a complete revamping of my room, at least one half of my room, to accommodate for a new set of shelves, the upper half of which will be entirely reserved for FPW books, with this box set as the centerpiece. It'll look awesome.

Well, I can't wait to read it...in a few years...when the RJ novels "come to an end."

Watched this last night. Has anyone else seen it? Are you as confused as I? If anyone can provide a little coherence, I'd appreciate it.

Hey all
First time poster, brand new FPW fan- just a quick intro, 30 year old dude from Vancouver Canada, been getting books from the library *cuz i used to always buy books but now have a mortgage :| * and started off with Hosts in the FPW RPJ series and wow.. am officially hooked.

Straight up msg to FPW, awesome writing, feels like i'm almost 'watching' the book in the sense of watching a movie.. fast paced and like someone said here in one of the threads, u don't get a sense of any filler or any wasted words.

Having just finished Infernal and the rest of the books before it in the space of a month, i must say my mind's a bit of a mosh pit currently as i think i've been getting a little TOO much into the whole RPJ series. However doing so has left me with a strong sense of who Jack is and what he represents.

Anyways, just wanted to say a quick hello and good to 'meet' everyone. Keep up the excellent work FPW and looking forward to reading Harbinger (sp?) !

*spoiler for infernal*

P.S that scene in Infernal when Jack tells Abe what's happening to him and Abe goes on and says to Jack that he's breaking his heart... geez .. what a moment for sure!

Has this been mentioned here before? I found it magical (no pun intended), moving (again, no pun), and utterly charming. A must-see film.

I love the Jack books and I love the fact that there are going to be some YA Jack books but.... is there anything else in the pipeline? I know Aftershock & Others is coming soon (next year?) and there's a Keep graphic novel (which hopefully will be available to us Sunny England residents) but what else is there to look forward to? More medical thrillers? More all-out horror? Sci-fi? I know I'm being greedy, but some of my favourites aren't even Jack books - Black Wind, Deep As The Marrow - but don't get me wrong, I love Jack too!Big Grin
So, get your finger out FPW, and write some more books!!! Big Grin Or at least give us a hint as to what's on the horizon.

Paul R, being greedy... and he knows it!
