I saw about half of this Wednesday night. Anybody think Sticky Fingaz is all right as Blade? I think he'll grow on me within the next couple weeks. From what I watched, and this is a ***minor spoiler***

When Krista has the sniper rifle trained on the head vampire. Why the need for a long and drawn out conversation?

I only started reading them a few months ago and am really enjoying them.

I've read:

RELIC
RELIQUARY
CABINET OF CURIOSITIES
RIPTIDE
THUNDERHEAD (about ten pages from the end right not)

I bring them up because many of them take place in New York City and are loaded with factual information about the city's streets and buildings. As a native New Yorker this brings an added dimension of fun, and also strongly reminds me of FPW's similar, lovingly detailed locations -- so I feel like the stories take place in the RK universe, even though Jack himself never makes an appearance.

The books are also similar in that they're loaded with protagonists who have far more initiative and intelligence than the people around them, and as a result get more involved with strange goings-on and as a result are able to save the world.

A main, recurring character throughout a subset of the books is Agent Pendergast of the FBI, a mysterious fellow who seems empowered by the Agency to investigate just about anything that strikes his interest. He's a great character and I look forward to reading the subsequent books that apparently tell more about him. I'd love for he and Jack to meet up in some cross-over story!

FPW, if you're reading this, I'm curious if you've ever met Preston and/or Childs and if anything fun was said! Big Grin

The poster...

...the plot...

"Jigsaw has disappeared.

With his new apprentice Amanda (Shawnee Smith), the puppet-master behind the cruel, intricate games that have terrified a community and baffled police has once again eluded capture and vanished. While city detectives scramble to locate him, Doctor Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) is unaware that she is about to become the latest pawn on his vicious chessboard.

One night, after finishing a shift at her hospital, Lynn is kidnapped and taken to an abandoned warehouse where she meets Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), bedridden and on the verge of death. She is told that she must keep the madman alive for as long as it takes Jeff (Angus Macfayden), another of his victims, to complete a game of his own. Racing against the ticking clock of Jigsaw's own heartbeat, Lynn and Jeff struggle to make it through each of their vicious tests, unaware that he has a much bigger plan for both of them…"

...the verdict?
I say, it sounds tight and tense. Probably will be pretty good.

Now where's the damn unrated version of Saw II that we all know will come out in light of III? I've been holding off on buying II just because of it.

This is a really entertaining and interesting film. It's not easy to describe accurately, but in my opinion, anyone who enjoys RJ's adventures would like this film. It features the actress Marlee Matlin who is great. Also look for the expanded version/sequel, which is called Down the Rabbit Hole, I personally haven't seen the latter, but have heard great things.

Hey gang, just a quick note:

We haven't gotten our copies of Nightworld yet, but we expect them any day now. Those who preordered and did not request an inscription will have their copies shipped immediately.

For those that requested an inscription, we'll be getting them when we see Paul at Necon in 2 weeks.

Also, at that time, we'll be getting copies of the Keep graphic novel autographed by Paul (at no extra charge of course). If you want one of these signed copies, you can preorder them here (you won't be charged until we have the autographed copies in our hands and ready to ship):

No one I know wants to see this film. It strikes them as anti-Mexican. It's not. No more, anyway, than Napoleon Dynamite was anti-Anglo (btw, did you know that the ND love interest was the little girl with the tattoo on her back in Waterworld?). Besides, the film captured a very surreal picture of the Mexican barrio, similar to East LA's very own Lower Eastside: Poverty and neon. Visually, it was very interesting. Good story, but unnecessary fart jokes (that seems to be the "in" thing these days in most comedies). I liked the movie alot, but it should have been funnier, like the movie "Cars" should have been funnier. I give NL a C+.

AC

P.S. If you like old style Mexican wrestling, you're in for a treat. If you aren't familiar with Mil Mascaras and Los Medicos, then the movie might fall flat.

P.P.S. I grew up watching Dick Lane and Mexican/American wrestling at the Olympic Auditorium every Thursday night. The movie is a wink to this era.

Jor-El:

"You will travel far, my little Kal-El. But we will never
leave you... even in the face of our deaths... the richness
of our lives shall be yours. All that I have, all that I've
learned, everything I feel... all this, and more... I
bequeath you, my son. You will carry me inside you all the
days of your life. You will make my strength your own, and
see my life through your own eyes, as your life will be seen
through mine. The son becomes the father, and the father the
son. This is all I can send you, Kal-El.

Live as one of them, Kal-El, to discover where your strength
and your power are needed. Always hold in your heart the pride
of your special heritage. They can be a great people, Kal-El,
they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way.
For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have
sent them you... my only son."
