Looks promising. Check it out: http://heroes.nbc.com/

Definitely a super hero concept. No capes and tights though, which is a good call.

I dislike sports movies and Mark Wahlberg movies but this was a pretty good flick. It really captured the desperation of being poor. Awesome opening shot of Veterans stadium in the snow. Great soundtrack of 70's feel good music throughout the film (I'm going to check itunes to see if it's for sale). Wahlberg is pretty good as Papale and Kinnear is great as Dick Vermeil.

Hello again folks,
Is anyone here familiar with Robert Crais's work in the form of his Elvis Cole novels? I don't know whether 'Our Fearless Leader', FPW, knows Crais or is aware of him or not but there are some remarkable similarities between the characters and their relationships, allow me to elaborate.

-Elvis Cole is a dangerous and very capable 'mr fixit', albeit a PI.

-He has unquestionable integrity and who always looks out for the little guy.

-He operates outside of the law in most cases and has resourceful team of people he calls on for information.

-He works out rigorously; Tai Chi, Tai Kwon Do katas, Sun Salutes and so on.

-He has a friend who owns a gun shop, whom he calls on for back up and supplies.

-He's in love with a woman called Lucy, who is divorced and has a son.

I could go on if I thought about it long enough.

Of course, FPW created RJ first, so I suspect inspiration has been taken...or just coincidence...? Anyone have an opinion or inside knowledge?

Hope your lives are fulfilled and your spirits large.

Hi -

I noticed that someone has the "Dark at Heart" short story collection with the great Repairman Jack story, "The Long Way Home" for sale on eBay. The current bid is $7.50 with $3.50 s & h. According to the listing, the seller has 10 copies available.

Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/DARK-AT-HEART-Dark-H...dZViewItem

Note: This auction expires just in a few hours (Aug-27-06 15:37:47 PDT).

Hello to everyone! I'm the newest member as of right now, unless someone registered in the past two minutes.

A search resulted in nothing, so I'd like to ask if anyone can direct me to a thread page that contains a detailed timeline of Jack's books from Tomb up to Nightworld? I would read all the books again, but I don't have time for that these days, and I would like to have all the dates in my head for the release of Harbinger.

Thanks!

Page 291 of the new "bargain-priced" edition of The Keep (Tor):

Chapter 25

THE INN
Saturday, 3 May
1020 hours

Right? Okay. Then on page 312, paragraph six...Glenn is talking to Magda:

" 'They're drying out. Dying. And it's only April.' "

Funnily enough, Magda says shortly after this, " 'It's the keep, isn't it?' " Ah, the effects of the Otherness...reaches right out from the book it's introduced in and influences the author (and apparently the editor, too!).

Alright, that's enough snobbery for one night.

Hello FPW and fellow board members--

So I've just started reading and have a few questions. (I did a board search and couldn't find a straight answer.)

I started with The Keep and I intend to read through the Adversary Cycle before moving forward with Repairman Jack. I just finished the "author's definitive edition" of The Tomb, and I'm a bit unclear as to how the novel connects to The Keep. Did I miss something? Was something changed between the original edition and the new Ipods-and-all version? Or will everything become clear as I continue to read the Adversary books?

This morning, after months of wrangling, my agent officially sealed the terms of a 3-book contract to bring Repairman Jack to the young-adult market. Unless your initials are JK or your first name Lemony, the YA market pays considerably less than what I get for adult novels. But I feel if I pass on the offer I will regret it later. I want to do these books. I need to do them. The stories are sitting in my head. I simply have to put them on paper. (“Simply” – hah!)

A couple of training videos created for a Microsoft UK conference, or some such. Quite long, but very funny.
