I'm finding BW to be a tad slow moving, Im just through the first 80 pages and it's not you're usual FPW ride. Is this the pace of the book, or does it continue this way? I'd like to open this for discussion; one, I'm curious; two, I'd like to hear th Form's response; three, need a spoiler or two!

Dead Flowers:
Julio’s Story

Julio nailed the last board on the window. The creatures broke through the glass last night. Took out half his customers. “Last night”? What a relative term. By tonight there would only be night. Said so on TV. And Julio did the math. Daylight was shrinking. Would be a thing of the past tonight.
Still the customers came. ‘Cept Jack. But no damn monsters from hell was going to shut him down. Long as the customers kept coming, Julio’s was open.
“You almost finish there, Julio, my man?” asked Red, who usually sat at the corner stool, next to the rest room. “Could use a drink about now.”
“Couldn’t we all,” added the six others.
“Just want to be ready for the…” Julio didn’t finish his sentence. Didn’t have to. They all understood. Some checked their ankle holsters, some their shoulder holsters, others their coat pockets. Armed and ready.
Once behind the counter, Julio began to pour drinks.
Old Man Marin raised his shot of bourbon and said, “Here’s to the sun. She was a tough old broad.”
“Hear, hear,” chorused the rest.
Julio crossed himself and refilled the drinks. Then he knelt behind the counter. He opened the sliding door and checked his inventory. Pump shotgun, check. M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (5.56 x 45 mm NATO), check L86A1 LSW (5.56 x 45 mm), check, RPK-74 (5.45 x 39 mm), check, Steyr AUG HBAR (5.56 x 45 mm), Colt Automatic Rifle (5.56 x 45 mm), check, Heckler & Koch G36 equipped with heavier barrel, bipod, and 100-round drum magazine (5.56 x 45 mm NATO), check, Heckler & Koch XM8 in ts "Automatic Rifle/Light Machine Gun" variant (5.56 x 45 mm NATO), check, Type 81 (7.62 x 39 mm), check, Ultimax (5.56 x 45 mm NATO), M240 machine gun (7.62 x 51 mm NATO), check. Most of his arsenal would be cumbersome, so he rearranged the manageable weapons toward the front. There was a plan, he thought. He slid the door shut, then reconsidered it and reopened the door. Better opened than closed. The sun’s dipping into the horizon for the last time.

Ending: In the distance Julio and Old Man Marin heard singing. Who the hell is singing on such a beautiful dawn? thought Julio.

Wish I could finish this story.

I can't see the info on Gauntlet's site but does the lettered edition contain anything special such as a page of manuscript (like some of the other RJ books have had)
cheers

There is a title on e-bay

AD STATUM PERSPICUUM (Author's choice 13)

Can anyone tell me what this contains - if it is short stories have they been subsequently published in the Others anthologies?

Many thanks

Dave

The special edition got a pretty good write-up in Fangoria. Uh, just in case anyone wanted to know that.

Is the Nightworld Borderlands Edition the revised version or simply the reprint of the original version? I'm dying to read the revised version. Yes, I did read the FAQs but must have overlooked the answer to my question if it was there. Help!

Found this on E-Bay UK

For a moment I thought there was a book FPW had kept secret from us all

Then I realised the seller couldn't read the font on the cover!

I saw "The Fever" the other night. It's a one man show with Wallace Shawn, who was so hysterical in "The Princess Bride" and other movies. I never did see one of Shawn's most famous movies, "My Dinner with Andre," as I figured it would be all talk and not that interesting.

Well...."The Fever" was decidedly all talk and not that interesting, though I will give Shawn his due. He is a fine actor and performed exceedingly well. Unfortunately, I did the "subway nod," where you fall asleep with your head nodding while you slowly list to port or starboard until you bump into the person next to you. I must have missed about 45 minutes or more.

It was an hour and 45 minute show about his feverish musings on something to do with the economy, the poor, why there are the poor, why the rich don't care, how we all seem to be related in something that sounded like a "consumer fetish." Oie! It was painful in the extreme. I felt like I was being tortured, yet my friend loved it. Go figure.
