I know that the CGI movie market is getting crowded these days, but Surf's Up offered enough laughs to separate from the pack-especially if you enjoy watching surfing, they did a great job with the water.

I don't mean fight scenes, but when the other guy just got his @$$ handed to him in a movie. Like Terminator 2 when they rescue Sarah and the one guy went face first into a wall and he made that thick "smack" sound.

Hm, also Rob Roy at the end. Okay, he was losing the entire fight until he grabs Tim Roth's sword and just slashes him almost in half.

I'm curious. What do you guys think are the best cinematic deaths? What I mean is who do you remember dying in certain movies?

I got 4. Willem DaFoe in Platoon. Jake Gyllenhaal in Donnie Darko. Vincent D'Onofrio in Full Metal Jacket and James Caan in The Godfather. What do you guys think are the most memorable deaths?

I'm sure it's entirely too early to get excited over this, and yet . . .

Cronos, The Devils Backbone, Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth. . . this guy's done some incredible movies, can't wait to see how he handles this! Hellboy has so much Lovecrafty references in it that he's a perfect choice to do this.

Now, on Japanese cable TV:"AXN", I'm watching "Cold Case" everyday since Dec 29. They're broadcasting three episodes every night, so now I just finished watching episode #18 "Resolutions". My favorite episode was "Fly Away". I couldn't guess who was offender, and it was very sad story.

Now I like this series. Plot is high quality. I like Kathryn Morris as Lilly Rush. But I'm surprised America hasn't the Statute of limitations. Even if the crime was 50 years ago, the police can arrest criminals. Well, you know about it, of course.

But in Japan, if the police couldn't arrest murderer for 25 years, that murderer get not guilty. That's not right!

That's why I like "Cold Case". Justice never die.

It's from the Japanese TV drama: "Yonimo Kimyo na Monogatari". A kind of THE TWILIGHT ZONE. The title is "The Hole". That ending was very funny, and you'll like it. Enjoy! Big Grin

I'm not Adam Sandler's fan, and I don't want to say it. But I guess Adam Sandler will become Oscar nominee in next Academy Award! And as usual, Don Cheadle was also terrific.

Today I saw "Reign Over Me", it was very touching movie. The story is about the two men, Alan and Charlie. Once they were roommates in college. And they met again. But Charlie had problems. It's......Well, I'm not spoiler, so I stop it. If you haven't seen this movie yet, I recommend it.

Jada Pinkett Smith, Liv Tyler, Donald Sutherland, they did also good acting. Director and writer is Mike Binder, and he played Bryan in this movie. He has good talents.

I know there are a fair few people who haven't seen it so I thought this might be of interest. Looks like it's UK only though.

I didn't expect to see WALK HARD in the theater, it just worked out that way. I'll say up front this is a movie that can wait for DVD.

But what a strange film. It felt like a take off of a cross between WALK THE LINE and FOREST GUMP. In GUMP, Forest managed to touch on every major trend and meet every important person in the world (just about) over the course of decades. Dewey Cox manages to successfully sing every style of song known to man, befriend every major music star over the course of decades, father gazillions of kids, and seemingly make millions along the way.

I must tip my hat to John C. Reilly. The boy can SING and his comic timing is spot on. He gives a great performance. I laughed out loud a lot, so did the rest of the audience, though there weren't a lot of us in the theater. There are at least a hundred puns on "Cox" with pictures to match  , and that was unexpected. The scenes concerning his many, assorted drug addictions are hysterical, as are his many and assorted rehabs.

Yet despite all the laughs and the good performances, something was lacking. I liked WALK HARD, but it's not a movie to run out and see. I think most of you will enjoy it a lot on DVD.
