I seldom think about film producers. As a viewer, it's the director and actors on whom I focus most. But Sydney Pollack was different. Perhaps it's because Pollack also acted and because he produced terrific films. I always thought he was a class act.

RIP Mr. Pollack.

As many of you are aware, Others: The Tales of F. Paul Wilson was released on DVD in October 2006 for $13.99. It's taken a little time but the three films included on the DVD (Foet, Traps and Lipidleggin') are now available for digital download through Amazon. It's $9.99 to purchase the three films or $1.99 to rent.

If you were ever curious to see the films but didn't want to spend the $14 bucks now is your chance. For $1.99 it's a steal!

I was wondering about the TWINS from Conspiracies. Since they sort of just come in and leave all of a sudden I was wondering if there was any plans on providing a backstory for them at some point? It is clear
that they were agents of the "ally" of some kind. I find the fact that they were at the time of Conspiracies more powerful than "the One" ie; Rasalom intriguing, but also am a bit confused as to why they were unable to identify Rasalom for who he was? I also like to think that the potential that the twins were the progentors of the whole "men in black" phenomenon is a fascinating track to follow in their story arc, if there is one. Two other points; One; I think that the twins are connected with the Oracles because of the eyes, and two; Could it be possible that they aren't destroyed? What we've seen so far in the way of opposition since has been pathetic by comparison, unless that is to be changed by Jack's transformation into the tool of the "ally"?
Will there be any stories that give a back story to the Twins? There is a lot of potential there for some great stories! If that has been addressed in "Secret Histories", "By the Sword", "Blackwind" or the revised "Nightworld" then I'll just have to wait until I read them to find out I guess.

I always admire someone who can poke fun at themselves.
When Naka told
Jack
that he turned
his
father's manuscript into
a
novel called Black Wind that didn't sell very
well.

Sorry about the above. Couldn't help myself. :p Plus you have to work for that spoiler.

I've been rereading "Bloodline" and I noticed a small passage on page 186. Jack is in the Highwater Diner owened by George Kuropolis in the west fifties. It's mentioned that Jack had done a fix for him in the past. Was this reference from "A Day In The Life"? I don't have my books to check upon this, so any help is appreciated.

This movie has been described as an R-rated Princess Bride, but don't be misled. Although the structure of the Princess Bride is used, The Fall is in no way comparable to the aforementioned classic.

The Fall is a story of a suicidal patient in hospital telling a little girl (also a patient) an "epic" story to entertain her enough to manipulate her into stealing drugs for him that he can use to kill himself. Errors ensue, and the epic story grows and grows. Thus we see two stories: the epic as seen through the girl's imagination (wow! great story, great effects) and the story of the young man and the girl, a story teetering on the edges of comedy and tragedy.

Don't make the mistake I made, thinking that the majority of the movie would be the "epic" portion (as in The Princess Bride), because I didn't pay attention to the patients' story and failed to see how it was influencing the epic. This gem of a movie is both heroic and sad, and the actress who plays the little girl virtually steals the movie.

The film is set against the backdrop of the film industry in its infancy: A clever metaphor for comparing real life to reel life. You can keep your Indiana Jones and Narnia (I saw them both and they don't compare with the complexity of a real epic story as seen in The Fall). See it. It hasn't gotten wide release so seek it out at the Indie theaters. It's well worth a see.

AC (no master of the hyperbole, but I try).

Okay, I searched everywhere in Googleland and here, but I haven't found a list of places from the RJ books. We're visiting the city next week, and we'd love to walk to Jack's special places of interest - his apartment, Gia's, Julio's, etc. I know most of these places are made up, but it's fun to find the closest match to the author's writings and visit in person.

Various fans of Robert Parker have done this with his Spencer novels. For example,

As I watch the continued slide of the US dollar and oil continuing up into the stratosphere as well as the still blooming mortgage crisis I can't help but marvel at how well Abe did in predicting this state of affairs! He's been warning Jack of this for a long time but now it is at hand. Ironically it seems that Jack would be well prepared with gold at this point. I am wondering if this will be focused on a little more in upcoming books?

I am on page 113 of Secret Histories, and WOW! Wonderful as always, FPW! Before I read the Tomb, I was a young adult/fanasy reader, so a YA Jack is perfect! I was just thinking,
was the reason the reason they sewed his hands to his armpits something having to do with the common ancester of our race and the Otherness, the one from Bloodline? He was a diamond guy, so a diamon guy with 4 arms would make the E're(right?).
Any thoughts?

I would just like to start the offical Repairman Jack Message Board thread about this movie by stating that, even though anyone who knows me knows that I don't pick favorites, this movie was for me, without a doubt...

THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!
