10/1 - I'm now an official "Literary Guest" at NY ComiCon. (maybe
someday they'll have a "Pulp" category)
http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Whos-Comi...ry-Guests/

10/2 - U.S. publication day for BOOKS TO DIE FOR. Fly, little book,
fly! There's a sample here: I did a piece on Richard Stark's THE HUNTER

10/3 - Tweedledumb and Tweedledumber debate tonight with no
liberatrian to add intelligence and original thought. I've got a DVR
loaded with "Copper," "Fringe," etc. I'll watch those instead.

10/4 - this supposedly tells you what kind of a writer you are.
http://blog.oxforddictionaries.com/2012/...urus-quiz/
Gah! I'm Toni Morrison!!

10/4 - in Cleveland for Bouchercon - went to a pre-con party at Erin
McCarthy's, then opening ceremonies at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.

10/5 ? I drummed for Slushpile at the Cleveland House of Blues for a
Bouchercon party

10/7 - Awful pun dept: Gotta say, I didn't see this one coming.
http://www.gocomics.com/pearlsbeforeswine/2012/10/07

10/8 - Geek time: The Scale of the Universe (a font of info - someone
did a HELLuva lot of research on this)
http://htwins.net/scale2/?bordercolor=white

10/9 - "And what is a good citizen? Simply one who never says, does or
thinks anything that is unusual." - H. L. Mencken

10/10 - Tonight I got to hang in NYC with authors named Abbott, Child,
Connelly, Coleman, Gaylin, Lutz, Rose, and Rozan to talk about BOOKS
TO DIE FOR (though the Century Club required a raised pinky on the
wine-holding hand). ;-)

10/11 - went to publisher 47North's party expecting to know next to no
one but ran into one familiar face after another. Publishing is a
small world.

10/12 - based on statistics (movie reviews and critic ratings) this is
the worst movie of all time http://bit.ly/UGpySY#Sp

10/13 - the train to New York is full of geeks going to NY ComiCon.
Oh wait...

10/13 - great turnout for the Comicon panel, then signing free copies
of THE TOMB till they ran out. Reeeeally crowded. And some of those
costumes, like Pyramid Head, are freakin dangerous.

10/14 - hung out with Ron Goulart at the annual Paperback Expo today.
And check out the fantastic mirror a reader made for me. Even ebook
covers are there!
https://twitter.com/fpaulwilson/status/2...76/photo/1

10/15 - 70 years old and the Stones still ROCK!

10/16 - Now HERE's a crop circle http://doubtfulnews.com/?p=14893

10/17 - Consider that all the galaxies in this tiny peephole view
average 200-400 billion stars each. We are not alone. We can't be.
http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap121014.html

10/18 - Okay...carving a jack-o-lantern with a .45. I'm impressed.
http://www.guns.com/colt-1911-pumpkin-ca...11195.html

10/19 - Hard to believe something this beautiful isn't the work or
some airbrush maestro. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap121017.html

10/20 - "Never read anything by F Paul Wilson" ...an in-depth
exegesis. http://tinyurl.com/8r29k47

10/21 - I never heard of "Thankskilling," and now there's a sequel?
How can this be? http://tinyurl.com/9hayptz

10/22 THIS kind of a debate I'd watch:
https://twitter.com/fpaulwilson/status/2...84/photo/1

10/24 - passed the halfway mark on the edit/revision of DARK CITY
today and I'm thinking, "This ain't bad." Which is gratifying since
we've had, shall I say, a troubled relationship up to this point. The
middle book of a trilogy can be trying.

10/25 - Wow. Sort of a roving EMP. Not near my house, please.
http://tinyurl.com/92y5sr5

10/25 - Get your geek on: What if HPL wrote "The Phantasmagorical
Four?" I thought it pretty cool. http://tinyurl.com/93yut8t

10/26 - hurricane Sandy's coming - gathering necessities: beer, wine,
gin, JD, vermouth, prosecco, oh yeah, and batteries and candles. Maybe
some food too.

10/27 - from Rio Youers: Six minutes of sushi awesome. Trust me on
this: http://bit.ly/S8s9Ca

10/28 - Can a movie synopsis be totally accurate and yet totally
misleading? Yes.
https://twitter.com/fpaulwilson/status/2...89/photo/1

10/29 - Hurricane Sandy has hit. I just motorvated thru Asbury Park
and environs. At the moment she's pretty much like a brawny nor'easter
- except for the tidal surge. Shark River inlet was well into the
parking lot of the boat basin and the surf is up under the boardwalks
and running across the road in south Belmar. Tonight's high tide and
full moon will coincide with Sandy's landfall and should be much worse.

10/29 - Wind has picked up here at the Jersey Shore and the lights
have flickered a few times. A healthy looking tree just snapped in
half outside and the rain is horizontal. Typing away while the power
lasts. My laptop waits in reserve.

10/31 - the power went back on at 1:30 a.m. (I'm one of the lucky ones
? I live on high ground near a substation)

10/31 - just watched 40 min of devastating aerial footage from the
Jersey Shore on News 12 NJ - the Atlantic Ocean is flowing into
Barnegat Bay at the Mantoloking bridge. At 17 I cut bait for crabbers
at the marina there. Shakes you up. The Shore will never be the same.
Never.

New to this forum...

One of my 2012 reading and reviewing goals is to read and review all the books in F.Paul Wilson’s Secret History of the World. This includes the entire Adversary Cycle and Repairman Jack series. Full reviews are coming both here on Goodreads.com and my Blog: Davidagranoff.blogspot.com

Starting with the

I know a bit out of order as I still have Black Wind and the Keep to post. I am currently reading Reprisal, fatal error, the dark at the end and then only have Nightworld to finish. Love to discuss the books with fans.

What would Jack do to prepare for Hurricane Sandy? How would he keep Gia and Vicki safe?
fpw 10-28-2012, 04:15 PM
At my request, Tor has lowered the price on THE TOMB ebook. This won't last long, so get it while you can. And if you've already read it, get one for a friend. THE TOMB for $2.99 on Kindle and Nook. Same price on LEGACIES and QUICK FIXES

This made me JUMP!

Obviously, you shouldn't just scroll down to get to the scary part, that won't work. You have to read it slowly (don't worry, it's not long). That said, take the warning to heart. I didn't think a webcomic could startle me but I was wrong!

Ok, ok, I suppose we have some real horror fans who will scoff at it, but then I figured some here liking horror would also like this, so hopefully I'm more right on the latter than the former. :o

Anyone watching this one?
I loved last year's AHS and I'm happy to see a new story for this year. Lots of the same actors again and Jessica Lang is just wonderful.
I love a horror story thats twisted....lol

12:15pm Myth Mixology Room 1A08

Many New Yorkers know their Manhattans, Cosmos, and Long Island Iced Teas. While the average happy hour drink takes gin, rum, or vodka, these authors spice things up with mystics, witches, daemons, Celtic gods, and other magical beings. Join top-shelf authors, F. Paul Wilson, Kevin Hearne, Theo Lawrence, Anton Strout, Faith Hunter, Nancy Holzner, Allison Pang, and Nicole Peeler, as they discuss the elements of mythology that go into making your favorite cocktails of urban fantasy.
1. F. Paul Wilson (Repairman Jack Series)
2. Kevin Hearne (Iron Druid Chronicles)
3. Theo Lawrence (Mystic City)
4. Anton Strout (Alchemystic)
5. Faith Hunter (Jane Yellowrock series)

I mean, WTF, really?! Why do they make it so damn hard to beat this guy??? I whooped his ass with Liu Kang using fireballs and kicks, but now to try and beat him with Raiden is just so damn frustrating. You barely do any damage, he seems to block everything even when he's NOT blocking, and that damn hammer of his!!

So frustrating!!

I really like FPW's idea of Jack hosting his own movie marathons and want do one too ... if I get wife and kids out of the house for a weekend or something Smile

Now, what movies do you suggest I rent/buy that feature Christopher Walken?
I know I want "Last Man Standing" in there and I think the last one I saw that featured him was "$5 a day".

What do you suggest?
Thanks!
