Hi - I've read a few RJ books in the past and really enjoyed them. However, in looking at the Story Cross Reference diagram, there's apparently a lot more to dive into. Any suggestions on which books to read first and the order to get the best effect?

Not sure if this is okay to post here, since it's not Jack, but we have the upcoming DVD of F. Paul Wilson short films up for preorder at Shocklines now (and we'll get Paul to sign our copies):

Repairman Jack has had a few sidekicks in both novels and short stories, although the role usually means a pretty short life expectancy. Smile

The question is - who's your favorite? Sandy Palmer in Hosts...Jamie Grant in Crisscross...Jack's dad in Gateways...or someone else?

I almost wanted to choose Loretta from Interlude at Duane's, but my real favorite was Jack's dad, Tom. He was brave, helpful and didn't waste a lot of time disbelieving what he saw with his own eyes. Besides, he seemed like a really good guy. Similar to Jack in ways that matter most, which isn't so suprising. So that's my vote - Jack's dad.

Who is yours?

My library has just purchased the entire 44 volume set of The Twilight Zone, hurray. I've always liked the show, but am not nearly as knowledgeable as several other boardwalkers here. Last night I began watching them starting with "Where Is Everyone?" and the special features. The episode was good, but I really enjoyed Serling's pitch and his interview with Mike Wallace(it was strange to see them both huffing down cigarettes) from the special features. 45 years later and so much of what Serling said either remains true or has come true. I know what I'll be watching for the foreseeable future.

To cut down on the recent spam we've had on the forum I'd like to recommend the moderators add a security "code" to become a registered member. I've seen it on other forums where you have to enter a legitimate e-mail address to become a member or, in the very least, enter a 4-8 digit code that they give you to make sure you're not a bot.

Does anyone think this is a bad idea?

Legacies is the third FPW book I've read in the last month since discovering this great author. I stumbled onto Conspiracies and loved it, so I immediately picked up The Tomb and The Keep so that I could get the Adversary Cycle in order AND the Repairman Jack books in some kind of order. The Keep is at work so that I have something to read at lunchtime.

Of the 4 books so far Legacies is definitely #4 for me. I liked it, but maybe because there was no supernatural element it just wasn't as interesting as the other 3. The Keep is turning out to be pretty good. I had my doubts because I'm more interested in the RJ character than anything else. But it stands up well on it's own.

Most likely I'll keep reading them in tandem until I start to get caught up. Next is All the Rage I guess. Big Grin

Are others noticing an increased presence of RJ books in your areas? Borders here in Reno has quite a large stock. I went tonight to buy the paperback of Infernal, which the computer said was in stock, and couldn't find it. There were at least six copies of The Tomb (I bought another one) along with several other FPW titles on the shelf, but I just wasn't finding what I was looking for. When I finally did find it, I was quite pleased: It was on an end-cap with a large number of other RJ books. The entire end-cap was devoted to RJ. They must've had at least 20-25 FPW books on the shelves, which is pretty good for around here!

I want to go check out Barnes and Noble now.

What are others seeing?

Four days for Borders Books to receive Harbingers. They usually order only one copy, so I reserved it. Sunday night, I'm reading Jack. Will probably also pick up The Tomb to get the $4 discount coupon. Plus my 20% teacher's discount. Cha-ching.

I just saw this for the first time on Starz tonight. I don't remember ever hearing about this at the theaters. I thought it was an awesome movie. Very violent but it had a very cool twist. Stars Clive Owen - hmm he wouldn't be a bad "Jack"!
