Best. Animated. Children's. Movie. Ever.

Wall-E should have been annoying. He should have come off as an unsympathetic character you'd be glad to be rid of. But even for a robot he is easily one of the most endearing characters I've ever seen in a movie. From his puppy dog optic sensors, his robotic arms, down to his treads, you just love everything about him. You feel his loneliness as he patrols the earth, cleaning and arranging to no real avail, but doing it because that's simply what he's supposed to do.

He pursues EVE because he needs a real companion and annoys her (not US, though) with his undying need to protect his newfound friend. Somehow, despite his neediness, his lack of bravery, he's the hero. A 700+ year old garbage compactor manages to crush all our hearts in his struggle to be a good friend.
It's another retelling of the Christ story, but more "E.T." than "Iron Giant". He even looks a little bit like E.T.; dimunitive with big expressive eyes and a limited capacity for speech, seemingly helpless and 'dies' for the sake of humanity only to be resurrected later.
My 21 month old daughter watched some, enough to where she started saying "Wally" or a variation of that in childspeak, but I'll have to show it to her again in a year or two so she can really appreciate it. I think it'll be going into her library.

Has anyone seen this movie....? No? Well, then, check this out! It is one of "8 Films To Die For", so it's low budget movie. But it's not bad. Actually, I liked it.

Story is simple. Lead role is one guy, Ian Stone. He lived, died, and live again, and died again. He doesn't know why. But then he find his secret. So you'll see this is the sort of "Slaughterhouse Five" or "The Butterfly Effect" or Ken Grimwood's "Replay".

Creatures were made by Stan Winston. They were very good effect. But this is horror movie. So....you'll see bloody gory scenes!

Apparently he wanted to film this after Blade Runner, but he couldn't get the rights to it.

Should be good!

I may have asked this before but I'm asking again. What's up with characters from Michigan? Darryl is the third from Dearborn. And of course everybody knows Toronto is in Michigan. HA-HA. I think it's sorta cool since Deaborn is my hometown. Just wondering if FPW diggs MI. or am I notcing it more because I live in the metro area?

I'm surprised nobody mentioned about this movie on this board. Today I saw three movies in a theatre. One of them were "Blindness". It was very scary. Suddenly people get blind in the world. Virus? Maybe. But a reason is unknown.

Governments isolate them into hospital. They can't get out. If they try to get out, soldier will shoot them.

In the hospital, everybody's blind. Then, blind people increased. A lot of people get in hospital, so they panic. But one woman was NOT blind.

This horrific, no-exit story reminded me of the claustrophobic queasiness of other apocalyptic films. They were dark. But "Blindness" is lit by a whiteness . It's like standing on a sunny ski slope without sunglasses.

This movie is telling about present society, ironically. People who suddenly got blind behave like crooks or animals. On the other hand, some people made a group. They started helping for each other. They walk hand to hand.
There were still hope.

If you haven't seen this yet, check this. I highly recommend this.

Michael H. Hanson's review of

Quantum of Solace (Sony/MGM)
Starring Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Olga Kurylenko,
Mathieu Amalric.
Directed by Marc Forster.
Rated PG-13 for intense violence and sexual content.
Time 106 minutes.

That’s right, British super agent James Bond is back in the franchises 22nd Film outing. Daniel Craig's bucolic 007 is emotionally wounded from the misadventures of his last film (Casino Royale) but nevertheless narrowly focused on exposing a secret cabal and garnering revenge on behalf of his deceased ex-lover, double-agent Vesper Lyn.

Sharing more screen time with 007 than even this chapter’s latest sizzling Bond Girls (redhead Gemma Arterton as the stiff, officious Strawberry Fields, and Olga Kurylenko as exotic, tall drink of water Camille) Judy Dench’s magisterial M is given free reign to strut her stuff as both matron and dominatrix.

Also returning in this sequel are Jeffrey Wright as world-weary CIA agent Felix Leiter and Giancarlo Giannini as retired Italian liaison Mathis. Both do their best to flesh some emotional foundation for Bond to stand on, but too quickly leave the scene to do much good.

Ultimately, Quantum of Solace, is an entertaining mess pockmarked with jump cuts and handheld camera work a la “The Bourne Identity.” Not unlike Tom Cruise’s (Ethan Hunt) transition from “Mission Impossible” to “Mission Impossible II,” Solace’s Bond loses much of that interior angst and mortality so prevalent in it’s prequel. It is replaced with a larger and even more frenetic palette of fight scenes and chase sequences that leave one slightly puzzled and unsatisfied about half way through the third act. Don’t get me wrong, Craig as an actor has not lost any of his pizzaz. It is the writers and the director who have dropped the ball here, giving us a flashier exterior Bond whom we just can’t quite connect with by flick’s end.

The moviemakers yank us around the globe with a sly wink, a punch to the gut, and a chop to the neck. The action sequences are spectacular but by the numbers (car chase, speed boat chase, airplane chase, check, check, check). The Bourne movie conceit of kinetic, visceral hand-to-hand combat is effective, but just not quite up to the sizzling standard set in Royale.

And the evil international organization set on controlling the world? Quantum, an amorphous, ambiguous spectre for the most part, it has neither a cool acronym or particularly impressive henchmen fronting it.

And this brings us to one of Solace’s biggest flaws. The big villain. Mathieu Amalric’s “Dominic Greene.” The return of the 30-something dark-haired european prick. I had to do a double-take to make sure the filmmakers had not simply resurrected the big bad from their last movie effort. More cipher than threatening bad guy, Amalric’s Greene is just one more smug multi-millionaire plotting rampant pillaging under the guise of humanitarian endeavor.

In the end, Daniel Craig’s Bond remains this rebooted action series best special effect. He’s got the gravitas and the moves down pat. It’s just a shame the Director didn’t let him strut his stuff more.

I give "QUANTUM OF SOLACE," THREE out of five cans of diet cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper.

We used the last of our free movie tickets last night to go see Bolt and I would highly recommend it even if you have to fork over some moolah. It was very funny, Rhino the Hamster is definitely one of the best CGI characters of all time, and it is incredible looking. In addition to being hilarious they were several outstanding action sequences and the message of self discovery is delivered without clubbing you overthe head. This is one of those kid movies that succeeds in being good for the accompanying adults as well.

I'm not sure someone posted this, but accidentally I found this site and I watched interviews with FPW. Very interesting. Smile

Was this brought up already in Conspiracies, or is this a possible way that Tesla may have more involvment with the Otherness?

"The Philadelphia Experiment was an alleged naval military experiment at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, sometime around October 28, 1943, in which the U.S. destroyer escort USS Eldridge was to be rendered invisible (i.e. a cloaking device) to human observers for a brief period.

According to the theory proponents, a destroyer escort, the USS Eldridge, was fitted with the required equipment at the naval yards in Philadelphia. Testing began in summer 1943, and was successful to a limited degree. One test, on July 22, resulted in the Eldridge being rendered almost completely invisible, with some witnesses reporting a “greenish fog” in its place. However, crew members complained of severe nausea afterwards. At that point, the experiment was altered at the request of the Navy, with the new objective being invisibility solely to radar. None of this has been substantiated.

The theory continues that the equipment was not properly re-calibrated, but in spite of this the experiment was performed again on October 28. This time, Eldridge not only became entirely invisible, but actually vanished from the area in a flash of blue light. According to some accounts, the U.S. naval base at Norfolk, Virginia, just over 215 miles (346 km) away, reported sighting the Eldridge offshore, whereupon the Eldridge vanished from their sight and reappeared in Philadelphia at the site it had originally occupied, in an apparent case of accidental teleportation.

Also, shortly before his death in 1943, Nikola Tesla claimed to have completed a Unified Field Theory; however, it was never published. Relatives of Nikola Tesla propose that much of Tesla's research papers were seized by the FBI promptly following his death, and highlight the apparent coincidence between the year of his death and the supposed date of the Philadelphia Experiment."
