Why is it that those of us who do not read eBooks in Amazon's formats do not have access to The Proteus Cure in ePub without having to buy from Amazon and then convert? I feel that is unfair to a lot of your readers. Please pull The Proteus Cure from Amazon's exclusive hands so the rest of us can have at it. I don't buy exclusive eBooks from Amazon. Never have, never will.

This locking up of eBooks like this is one of the reasons I do not own a Kindle. It's not that I cannot do the conversion. I can. That's not the problem. The problem is when I feel we (those of us who read in ePub) are being tread as second class, I will not spend the money. I might not ever spend the money even if the eBook was published via B&N and/or Kobo. This is unfair. Please consider your fans who do want to read and do not want to or cannot convert.

So you know you can convert it, but you just don't want to because of some kind of principle? Who are you hurting by martyring yourself like that?

I finally gave in and got the free e-book conversion programs for my computer to enable me to read e-books. There were certain books that I were only available in e-book format.

I also bought a dedicated e-book reader since I was running out of space in my house for paper books and e-book prices on new releases tended to be cheaper than hardcover. But the previous sentence is a subject in itself.

Kindle offers certain advantages/bonuses if a book's exclusively Kindle at first. And since the conversion is so easy as long as there's no DRM (and I don't use DRM), why not? To refuse to convert because, well, because you just won't...that's a head-scratcher.

Amazon offers some pretty good offers for the Kindle. I know cobalt purchased The Proteus Cure , and she's tearing through it. I think it was $3.99, a good deal even.
