If you want socialized medicine.....this Obama plan is for you. I agree that this country needs healthcare reform....but forcing those that work....and some are barely making a living in this economy......to pay for the have nots, isn't a solution...it's another burden.
The Fed and the states need to shake up their welfare rolls. There are those that truly need assistance and kids need medical care. But the Fed hands out SS disability bene's with hardly a forethought and the states have so many double/triple dippers...it's comical if not criminal.
I work in healthcare.....you wouldn't believe the crap I see.....and sometimes report.

I think his ideas on switching to a resource based economy are pretty innovative. His whole Venus project is pretty intriguing.

When looking at healthcare, however, it affects the whole nation. Just because we didn't pay those bills doesn't mean the hospitals took a loss. The bills are still paid by insurance companies. http://www.jstor.org/discover/10.2307/44...6212503793 here's an interesting article about how insurance companies are affected by the economy and their impact on it. While I still feel like medical coverage should be accessible to every citizen there has to be a way to do it without crippling our economy. (possibly a resource based economy)
Then, at 24 years old, my retina spontaneously detached. I needed three to five surgeries to save my eye from total blindness (though it's not much better now). Of those five, I had to pay for three, since Surgery 4 failed leaving me in agonizing pain (I couldn't eat or drink or sleep for three days) and Surgery 5 was covered as well by the doctor who screwed up. Those three surgeries totaled $100,000. Had the changes so far for Universal Healthcare not gone into effect, I wouldn't have been eligible to stay on my dad's insurance and my own. Because I had two insurance plans, I only had to pay about $2k out of pocket per surgery.
My condition wasn't anything life threatening, but I would be bankrupt if not for the changes.
