Sorry to stray from the 'Terrifying Triffid' scene for a moment, but I thought New Jersey folks could now pump their own fuel?

I live in Oregon (the secrets out) and it's still against the law (I guess) to pump your own fuel. Recently they passed some silly legislation which won't allow for the fuel attendents to 'top off' your fuel tank. I never did catch the reasoning behind it, but it irritates me to say the least because I can usually fit another half gallon into my gas tank after the pump clicks off. It would be one more day I could go before having to fuel up again.
If it ever gets to the point where Oregon becomes a self-serve state, I wonder if they will post armed guards at the gas stations to inforce the "No Topping Off" rule.
Folks who are caught 'topping off' their fuel tanks will be cuffed, beaten, and taken into custody and detained for questioning...
(and then fed to a Triffid)

Nope. It's somehow considered discriminatory to allow self-pumping (that sounds wrong, doesn't it).

That is strange. Well, at least on a positive note, it gives people some jobs.

Pumping gas is probably less dangerous than being a 'Triffid-Herder' anyway.

That's just weird. We pump our own gas here. There are very few full-service gas stations any more. Those are usually as much as a half-cent more expensive. Even if you go to a full-service station, you can pump your own gas, but you still have to pay the full-service price.

Sounds like your state got a little crazy with making laws, there.
