I would say definitely, but then I found the first two seasons riveting. The longer I watch, the greater my appreciation for the scope of the story becomes.

I finished the final season a few days ago and I must admit that I'm saddened that I won't be able to watch anymore new episodes; it is certainly the best TV series, and it simply may be the best thing I've ever seen. Images from it will haunt me for sure. It should be required viewing for anyone who thinks the system is working.

I'm now waiting for Simon and Burns next collaboration, Generation Kill about a platoon that is one of the first to enter Iraq.

Sorrel and I watched the last episode of season 5 last week, and we loved it.

The conclusions you feel after watching the show are that either America has failed or that everyone else is even more screwed up.

As someone who has spent the last two decades on the job, I can speak to a lot of the truth that's in the show (except maybe McNulty's scheme in Season 5 - that was maybe a little bit too much).

Are people screwed up because of the system or is the system screwed up because of the people? That is our chicken/egg debate. I think it is a bit of both, but I tend to blame the system more because I encounter way more good people than bad and under different circumstances I think it could be even more lopsided.

It was a tad over the top for sure. Unfortunately, I honestly feel that it takes something that flashy to garner the attention of those with the authority to do something about it. When I think of the Russians in the cargo container and the 22 bodies Marloe hid and how no one wanted anything to do with either case and compare it to the manhunt that one politician being killed would produce it makes me weep for our species.

This show hasn't started in the UK yet but fortunately a work colleague had all 5 seasons which I have been working my way through.

On season 5 now.

The characters and dialogue is fantastic. Being English I struggle a little with the pronounciation, especially Snoop who I believe is proper Baltimore street.

But there is some comic genius as well as the serious stuff.

I'll be gutted to finish the final episode. Other stuff on the box these days just doesn't compare.

Friday I drove the width of East Baltimore on Monument Street. Kept looking for Marlo. (The stories are set in West Balt but they shoot them in east.)

In Japan, "The Wire" is showing on "Super! Drama TV", it's Japanese cable channel.

Now I can't see that channel, but I can see from April. The season 3 will begin from April, but I haven't seen season 1 and 2 yet. Is it okay without season 1 and 2?
