Ok I just finally got caught up with Season 4 thanks to one of my troops downloading the episodes from limewire (we can't access the eps on abc.com from over here)

now I'll admit that I haven't gone through all 310 posts on here because frankly I don't have the time so if I repeat something someone else already said/answered then please forgive me.

First off...these first 7 have been fantastic and definitely threw in more questions then answers.

1. I see most people are assuming 2 things...1. that Michael/Kevin is Ben's spy and 2. that he slipped the note to Sayid and Desmond...there is no proof to either of those and while they may turn out to be true I've learned not to make assumptions about this show.

2. I enjoyed the episode with Sayid and that he's working for Ben...awesome.

3. Why are the Oceanic Six telling a different story then what really happened? Whose behind their silence?

4. Kind of with #3...the date on Jin gravestone was the date of the crash...wtf??

5. This is from a previous season but I haven't seen it mentioned before...I can't remember the episode but in a particular flashback (I think it was with Sun and Jin) someone walks into a room and a child (I think an Asian child) was watching tv in the background...on the TV was Hurley being arrested...something that happens in the future on a tv in the past?? WTF?? (And I rewound and played the DVD in slo-mo just to be sure...its definitely Hurley so I put it in the back of my mind as something importat.)

6. ANYONE can be in that coffin because the only people that really had anyone was Sun/Jin, Bernard/Rose and Michael/Walt...think about it...everyone is pretty much a loner. No one really has anyone back in the real world. I'll be interested to see.

7. Ben is still by far the best character on the show. But is he really a bad guy? Yeah he's evil as fuck and I think that's why I like him, but what's his real agenda?

Ok I have to go to bed now...its late and I have PT in the morning.

I'd make the same assumptions.

Quote:3. Why are the Oceanic Six telling a different story then what really happened? Whose behind their silence?
We don't yet know why, exactly. We all have our theories, but we don't know anything for sure yet...

Quote:4. Kind of with #3...the date on Jin gravestone was the date of the crash...wtf??
Same answer as last. I have my own theory that Jin made a deal with whomever is getting those folks off the Island (Ben?) to remain on the Island if Sun could leave in time to stay healthy and have her baby, which apparently happened. Jin could either be dead (I don't think so), or alive on the Island along with the rest of the gang (I think so).

That is a flashback from quite a while ago. It's the news coverage of Hurley winning the lottery. A little Asian girl whose dad is going to get beaten by Jin as per Mr. Paik was watching the TV with Hurley in the background.

Speaking of TV's with people in the background...
1. Did you catch Sayid on TV in the background when Kate visits her real father in the army enlistment station?

2. Did you catch "Expose" on the TV in Locke's apartment in California after his father stole his kidney and also, in the last episode, in Sun's apartment in Korea. "Expose" is the show that Nikki (of Nikki and Paulo) starred in before she crashed and then got bitten by her own nasty spider.

I'm not sure of the connection you're making here. Why would someone have to be part of a unit to be in the coffin? Or are you taking "live together; die alone" very, very seriously? Big Grin

Quote:7. Ben is still by far the best character on the show. But is he really a bad guy? Yeah he's evil as fuck and I think that's why I like him, but what's his real agenda?
You got that right. Ben is a fabulous villian, and we do not yet know his real agenda. He probably even has an agenda behind his real agenda.

I just love the way we look and ponder over the scenes on LOST. I know I'm a bit late on posting my thoughts, I've been covering a lot of shifts lately....sigh.

One thing we all agree on, Ben is such a dastardly character. Once LOST is over, he'll be soooooo type cast that he'll only be thought of as a villan.
I thought Michael was the spy on the ship.
We now know Sun is one of the six. That means Desmond and Sayed ARE NOT counted.
I think Jin is alive on the island.
Jin's father-in-law and Penny's father must be funding or part of the founding of Darma.
Why is there such a large supply of the deadly gas on the island?
Before the six get off the island, there must be a "meeting" to set the story of the ordeal, so that it's always told "as truth". Nothing messes up a lie, then a story that changes.

That's all that comes to mind right now. I'll have more ponderings after the next installment.

Desmond was never on the plane, so he can't be counted as one of the Oceanic 6.

Sayid IS counted. He referred to himself as one of the Oceanic 6 on the golf course, and remember the other golfer's reaction? That Italian golfer seemed to recognize Sayid once Sayid identified himself as one of the Oceanic 6, and he became quite nervous, with good cause.

Additionally, though it's not stated overtly, it seemed the young German woman Sayid met in the coffee bar recognized him, most likely as one of the Oceanic 6.

Again, my count for the acknowledged Oceanic 6 so far:
Hurley
Jack
Kate
Sayid
Sun

I don't think we can count Aaron since he wasn't on the roster of Oceanic 6 and he didn't pay for a seat.

We've got one more to figure out.

Dem's my thoughts and I'm stickin' to 'em.

I'm with you, sig. These are assumptions, and assumptions are OFTEN proved wrong when it comes to this show.

To clarify..... Hurley was arrested after he won the lottery for being believed to be a drug dealer. He won a settlement from this mistaken arrest and gained even more money. [source]

Ever since X-Files, I've been longing for a show in which the character that we presumed to be the bad guy for the ENTIRE show turned out to be the good guy. Maybe LOST will be that show. Big Grin

That's true, but the TV scene that Sig referred to which is playing in the background in the home of Mr. Paik's employee whom Jin visits is the news story of Hurley winning the lottery.

As best I remember, Hurley's mistaken arrest was never shown on TV. We saw it happen, then we saw Hurley speaking to his accountant about it, with his accountant mentioning the additional big bucks Hurley got because of it.

Sounds like a safe assumption, but I wonder why only 6 leave the island and the rest would stay. And how and why did Ben leave the island?

I could have sworn I saw it recently...like Season 3...I will have to go back and watch it again. And Hurley's car chase arrest was filmed...remember there was a guy standing in the background with a video camera.

Sounds familiar, but don't remember what was on the tv.

No, but I believe you. Wink

No what I'm saying is that I don't think anyone on that island would have "visitors" (for lack of a beter word) at his/her funeral. Who would come see Claire now that Charlie is dead? Locke? Sayid? Sawyer? See what I mean? No one had anyone to begin with, so what's the big deal that no one would show up to the funeral?

And I believe that guy was Randy, who was, at various times, Hurley's boss, employee and colleague.
