Maggers Wrote:Heavens to Betsy! How could I forget Dean Martin, who I think was underated as an actor.

You know . . . I had originally written him in before Sammy Davis Junior, but couldn't remember which came first, singing or acting.

No doubt that he was one of the "greats."

Funny thing . . .

I looked him up on imdb, and they hardly mention singing at all!

Now there was a great all-around entertainer!

I'm pretty sure we discussed Sammy, well I know I discussed it, it's the with you I'm only pretty sure of, when you were here. He was my folks favorite performer. My personal favorite of his albums was one of him doing impersonations(and if you like impersonations and haven't heard Sammy, you're missing out) while singing standards, but I couldn't remember the name of the album...until tonight with the assistance of the internet. Weird Al? What movie was he in? Was he actually any good?

I remember that we did talk about him . . . now that you mention it.

He not only did everything -- singing, acting, dancing, impersonations -- he did them superbly.

I remember seeing him being interviewed once, and the host asked him how it felt to be a Superstar.

I'll never forget his answer:

"Man, the minute you start thinking of yourself as a Superstar, you're in BEAUCOUP TROUBLE."

Hell of a guy!

I, too, was surprised people missed CHER - excellent actress!

And Dolly Parton - who I think can do anything! With flair - outrageous flair, that is. A friend of mine interviewed her for Southern Living Magazine and said she is a lovely, down-to-earth woman, who knows the score (literally) and sayd all the right things!
