I can't believe we haven't mentioned the person who probably set the standard for singers/actors... Bing Crosby!

I just thought of him this morning while thinking of holiday movies. Duh. He was great.

I think Tricky is a pretty solid actor. He has been in a few movies but the only one that is coming to mind now is "The Fifth Element". Will have to do some looking to see what other credits he has.

How about Henry Rollins and Glenn Danzig? Hehe, OK OK they have VERY limited range and are pretty much typecast as themselves in movies but still...Big Grin

For an interesting, disturbing look at white suburban kids trying to act 'black', check out James Toback's Black and White. I mention it here because it features a bunch of rappers playing themselves, although I don't think any of them have truly pursued an acting career.

Back in his day, most of the performers had a vaudeville-type background and could wear a variety of performance hats. A modern guy is Mandy Patankin.

And no Rick Springfield? For shame.

No Rick Springfield. He was cute but he wasn't that great of a singer or actor! :p

Mandy Patinkin is outstanding as both singer and actor, one of my favorites, but I think we're looking for popular music singers that decide to try acting. Mandy is much more an artiste. Wink

I recommend pleasant.
