So she appears in All the Rage as well? I didn't remember that one.

Darn. Now I've got Hosts and All The Rage mixed up. Didn't someone sneak in the lab and play with the Rakoshi blood in "All the Rage"?

Cthulhu for President!

Why vote for a lesser evil? I can think of none better than the great old one, who should return from his slumber to take over the U.S. government and make this country a whole hell of a lot better as the leader of our executive branch. Or destroy it and drive everyone insane, kill us all, or something really nasty! Remember, Cthulhu for President, why vote for the lesser of two evils? Wink

Could be...

...but Mrs. Aralo snuck into the Cancer Clinic and tampered with the cancer treatment (Adeno Virus) in Hosts.

I remember that the Doc in Rage thought that someone had snuck in and changed the records etc of the blood after it went dormant.

I think I'd remember if FPW used a "sneak-in and switch" in two consecutive books, so I'd vote for no.

You didn't even remember that you had Hosts five minutes ago.....!

*ducks and runs*

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

[throws Hosts paperback at Jimbow, but misses]

Hey, stop ducking! Smile

I bought the paperbacks for Hosts and Haunted Air last week at my local second hand bookstore and stuck them on a shelf upstairs with the 1,500 other novels I own. When I read them, last year, I borrowed them from my local library.

As it happens, on this last weekend, I managed very little sleep; hazards of working as a consultant for long hours on a new client...as a result, my brain is still a little foggy on stuff I did for the 5 days prior to last Saturday (I remember that my wife and I went to Iron Man on Friday for our 18th wedding anniversary, but I have to think for a while about the smaller things).

So, yes, it took me 8 minutes to recall that Hosts was upstairs on my bookshelf...go ahead. Make fun of the zombie. It's OK, really. I can take it.

However, if you can find me a page number in Rage where the character is mentioned, I will humbly apologize to M&G. Until then, I will still bet money on my brain, foggy or not...

...after all what choice do I have...it's not like I could find you, harvest your brain and transplant it into my own cranium. Not by myself anyway. Maybe Bones would help. He must have time on his hands, now that he's living off of his parent's insurance money.

[voice receding into the distance] "Bones...?!"

Heh.

There is a mention in The Haunted Air that Menelaus Manor was previously owned by a Herbert Lom and his wife Sara.

That's the one that Dave mentioned earlier. Good bloodhounding, Karl!

I got sidetracked with family stuff and just got back to see your post. I'll have a simpler time finding it and putting it in my own (fledgeling) compendium, now. Thanks.

Anywho...now that we've exhausted the "many faces of Rasalom", back to something resembling the topic of this post.

In addition to, as another earlier post wondered, whether the Sword from Black Wind survived, I am also waiting to see if the scroll from Black Wind, describing how to invoke the Kuroi Kaze, survived the destruction of Nagasaki or if the Kaze Group will attempt the more blunt and horrific approach that the monks used prior to obtaining the scroll.

Obviously I haven't read By the Sword yet....and it's becoming ooooooh so hard to stop myself from clicking on the purchase button on Amazon.ca!

I certainly hope that this topic is dealt with in BTS.

I also vote for David Bowie to reprise his role as Tesla in any flashback that occurs in the Legacies or Conspiracies movie.

Hope this refocuses things a bit.

Sara Lom I caught onto well before the point you mentioned, but I was looking specifically for an anagram somewhere.

Sal Roma, on the other hand, only have been mentioned as 'Salavtore Roma' took me completely by surprise when you finally decided to let us know for sure who he really was.

I think I banged my head against a door jamb for 3 or 4 minutes. Smile

As to the sword discussion, (Black Wind Spoiler)
I'd kind of thought the DTV was released when the sword was damaged/destroyed in the blast of the atomic bomb over Hiroshima
. I have a niggling feeling there is mention of it being around a lot longer than that, however, but I can't remember for sure if I read that, let alone where.

I guess some of that may become clearer in 'By the Sword'.

You're right, it's HOSTS, not ALL THE RAGE.

The only otherness-ness in ALL THE RAGE was Scarlip. (And a background reference to Dr. Roma.)
