Another doodle from my sketchbook. I drew this in 10 minutes in front of the TV earlier on, and spent the last 2hrs or so painting it. Thought it'd be cool to share it with you and hear your feedback!

Is anything wrong with my depiction of a Rakosh? I know there are some people in this group who have an ecyclopaedic knowledge of Repairman Jack, so if I have made any obvious errors I would love to hear them. I remember that the Rakosh are described as having shark like heads, but I really struggled early on trying to draw a shark-shape head that didnt look like a Teenage Mutant Turtle! Big Grin

I'd also like to do an illustration of a scene from one of the Repairman Jack books, and at the moment I'm thinking about the rooftop fight in The Tomb. Any suggestions/requests of action packed scenes would be welcomed.

Has anyone else heard that Howard Stern has been telling his fans to vote for the worst singer on "American Idol?"

If that's true, it seems to be working. Sanjaya, THE worst singer in the bunch, has been repeatedly voted in.

Is Howard Stern flexing his powerful media muscle? Can he tip the scales on "Idol?" Is America bored with "Idol?" Will they vote in the worst singer just because they can?

Last night while watching Law and Order SVU their story was about a Preacher (played by Tim Daly) who headed a religious movement based on replenishing the earth, i instantly thought of the Procreationists from "Be Fruitful and Multiply" i even got out Soft and Others to read the intro to my wife. Another amazing example of how often you sense things or write about them years before they show up in the news or on TV.

So I just bid on a copy of "The Keep." Now, I know FPW is not a fan of this interpretation of his book, but the curiosity is KILLING me, I have to see it. I need to know if it is as bad as he eludes to and if it matches any of the pictures on my head after reading the book.

I thought I was gonna be waiting weeks for it but it came in the mail today. My new femail man delivered it right to my door. She was way too good looking to be a femail man. They must have some great benefits.

Time to get reading. Big Grin

That's right, Hollis is reading his first FPW (aside from the Christmas Thingy). He has started picking more adult reads lately. I started reading adult books at the same age (11), it's just funny to see my "baby" doing it now!

Tricia Helfer is SUPERGIRL?

From Entertainmentwise.com:

It seems that Supergirl is to be set for a remake.

Rumours from joblo.com are circulating round the net that Warner have a script commissioned and are looking for a ‘college age’ actress to take the role of Supergirl.

Hotly tipped is star of TV series ‘Battlestar Galactica’, Tricia Helfer, although at 33 she is reportedly deemed ‘a little old’ for the role.

Purists may not be too happy either, as the studio is intent on making the film, er, ‘of interest’ to younger men, so expect a tighter costume and a looser plot.

The 80’s original featured thespian Peter O’Toole and Faye Dunaway, with young’un Helen Slater in the title role, but was universally panned and only one was made.

Over the last few days Aphew and I have been updating the FPW FAQ. This is the first update in nearly three years and updates include Paul's bibliography, movie and book information and more. If you're a regular on the forum you know everything that is listed here. If you're new to FPW then this is a good resource of information.

I saw a very good one man show at the Public Theater tonight called "Intringulis." The young man who wrote and performed it, Carlo Alban, tells his story.

He was born in Equador (Susan, this one's for you!). He and one of his five siblings and his parents emigrated to America. Four of the children were left behind; how families can be split like that is incomprehensible to me, yet it happens everywhere around the world.

Carlo and his family arrive in America on visitor visas and never leave. They wind up in New Jersey. He tells us of his struggle to put his illegal immigrant status into some sort of context. The family was always in fear they would be found out. Yet, paradoxically, he became a young star on "Sesame Street," playing the character Carlo, for those of you who watched that show. When one of his siblings who stayed behind in Equador finally gets to America, 18 years after Carlo arrived here, Carlo is stunned to discover that his brother is angry, enraged, and seems to be bent on becoming a terrorist of some sort. After a falling out, Carlo's older brother leaves the family he only just returned to and hasn't spoken with them since.

Singing and playing the guitar, Alban uses moving South American folk songs to express his story, as well as his own written word. He's funny, wise, and opened my eyes to a world I, frankly, have never considered except in the most superficial way.

This is an understated virtuoso performance in a show that should be seen by many and probably won't. It's at the Public for a very short run. Hopefully, this young man will find many more venues for this interesting and informative show.

Many may remember the story about why I am naming my baby Jack. I was able to sell many of my precious signed limited editions (including the hard to find Haunted Air) to help pay for several tests not covered by my insurance. Unfortunatley, we have come upon a problem. Jack will be born in 6 weeks and although naming the baby Jack was a no brainer, we can't decide on a middle name. My wife and I have been through so many names without being able to come to a resolution. This morning I thought to myself, of course we can't decide, we haven't consulted the Jack boards. Although I have read every Repairman Jack book and own almost every FPW book I don't think I know his middle name. I am open to suggestions in case the real Jack doesn't have a middle name. Hurry, time is running out. My wife may choose a middle name at random.
