This is my first post, so please bear with me! I enjoyed your exchange, as I read the original version of Nightworld long ago and was interested in your reactions. If I may--please read the original just to complete the cycle. Also wondering if you both enjoyed the teenaged Jack stories as much as I did. I'm anxiously awaiting Dark City also!

As it happens I also finished the entire series early this morning.
Was half way through Nightworld at around 11:30 , so kept going till after 01:00.
Just got to say its one of the best series of novels I have read. Very engrossing , good character development which is congratulations to FPW.
I have never had a tear in my eye when a character dies , until I read Nightworld.
Sad to reach its end , but we can always return to them.

spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I teared up badly when Jeffey reverted back to his autistic state after touching the hilt of the sword.

I think the biggest complaint I had with Nightworld was Jack's goof ball behavior when confronting the newly transformed Rasalom in the cavern, with Glaeken.

He said something like, "Let me take a few swings at him." when they were still in such an uncertain state, with the world (including Gia and Vicky) in the balance. It just seemed more like a kid wanting to take a few swings in a ball game.

It would have worked better, for me, had Glaeken gotten so exhausted attacking the pillars that he collapsed, or dropped the sword, and Jack picked it up saying, "I'll take it from here, my friend.". Instead he jumped in like, "let me play". It really took the steam out of what was happening.

That said, The Tomb, in it's original form, still stands as my favorite book of all time. I've read a bunch of books since then, but no character, or story, has resonated more with me.

If you haven't already, read Black Wind. It's one of my favorites, and ties in the series as well.

I just finished 'Fatal Error'... and I'm so bummed I'm almost to the end of the series... after all these months, Jack, Gia, Vicks and Abe feel like friends... it's been a lot of years since I got so caught up in a series of novels. Incredibly well written, and I just love the characters. So glad my friend Danni told me I HAD to read these books!
Off to download 'The Dark at the End'... figure I'll be up ungodly late... and I'm seeing a lot of chores not getting done tomorrow!

...and Nightworld after that. You're almost there.
