Jack's story, particularly in The Tomb, is not a one-shot story. It's a long arc that requires a lot of explanations and time changes. If we get just a stand alone Jack movie or series, I think we miss out a lot on what makes Jack, Jack.
I only agree that I don't want the film made if it is not made
well, and it doesn't pander, try to be kid-friendly or have gratuitous formulaic inserts. Also, I hope they keep the The Tomb/Rakosh story intact without stealing plot references from other RJ novels, thus spoiling their ability to be used in their appropriate location in later novels.
However, in a well-written screenplay, they could add elements that would help set up future novelizations. For example, they show an advertisement for the Dormentalists on a TV in the background (foreshadowing events 7 novels later). Things like
that I wouldn't mind added to a script.
