Initially I thought she was the little girl at the end but the addition of the dog and the allusion to her age suggested that The Lady had once again returned and the world was once again sentient from the point of view of the Ally. Paul want to pains to bring in previous major characters from the RMJ series but where is the Occulus?
I had this question after reading The Dark At The End. I was sure the occulus would turn up in this new version of Nightworld. I guess it's really not that important because it is a great book, 5 stars. Still I'd love to pick The Man's brains on this one and find out his reasoning. The occulus was in at least three books. The previous occulus is the reason Jack's father was killed. The person who holds the power is the only other person aside from Glaeken that has a connection to the ally.
I just re-read Legacies right before Nightworld and I was wondering if Alicia Clayton would make it through Nightworld not expecting that she would actually make an appearance, as well as Nadia and Lyle. I thought that was really cool. Yet again it makes me wonder why the occulus/yencari were forgotten.
I liked that Hank switched places with Carole's husband from the 92' version and that the cops that rob him are kickers. I don't know if my memory is correct but in the 92' version wasn't there some redemption where Carole's husband lived a day longer than the people that robbed him? Didn't he see them dead? It's kind of funny FPW made her husband a scumbag that leaves her to gamble and womanize. I laughed. He was a hero in the first version and his death by alien impregnation paves the way for Carole to have her moment with Bill.
I'll be looking forward to Cold City now and some good ole' fashion non-supernatural fix-its.
Thanks Mister Wilson
