Just wanted to add my thanks to the ever-growing chorus. I've been dying to read this - I was pretty bummed when I got The Barrens and Others because it wasn't in there. Of course, the book was pretty great, so I couldn't complain much...

Anyways, thanks for doing this! Can I ask what prompted it? It seems kind of out of nowhere - not that I'm complaining!

I write to be read. I wanted it out there, but where? Might have been a cool prequel to Nightworld, but that book's already too damn long. So why not simply hand it to the true believers as a bonus for being here?

And I thought Fonzie was cool? Cool Seriously, you didn't have to do this but you did. I admire that! Thanks.

I've read it again. And I'm afraid the others are correct.....I want more of the first age Glaeken now. I'm imagining all sorts of battles.....lots and lots of them.

Spoilers below about Gleaken and Dalt.

Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants. Glaeken finally becomes mortal, only to have a million in one chance of being symbiotic with a species that could make him live forever. What are the odds?Big Grin

Let the poor guy rest, for the Lady's sake.

Bwahahahahahahaha! OMG - now that is seriously funny!

I just finished reading the story and I can see why you wanted it to be more readily available to us true believers - aside from your being such a genuine good guy, that is. Wink

It's a great story and I loved every word of it but now I have two little questions...

Spoilers here for Demonsong / BTS / Black Wind:
... just how does the Choir of Chaos become concentrated into the faster-acting Black Wind? What happens to the Ring of Chaos and is that more or less the answer to the first question?
*sigh* I suppose these questions will haunt me for years now until more First Age stories get written. Unless the answers are out there somewhere in something I haven't read yet? :dontknow:

Unless they are answered in Reprisal or Nightworld (the only 2 stories I haven't read yet), then we all get to wait.

At least we shouldn't have to wait as long as Glaeken did to resume aging and, when the day comes that we do get to find out, it shouldn't cost as much as he had to pay.

Was it Tom Petty that said: "The waiting is the hardest part"?

Heh.
