Oh hell. I wanted to record the six episodes I'm missing (I have the last six) and I forgot all about it. Look forward to chatting with you about it, Scott. Big Grin

How many vikings does it take to change a light bulb?

None. The light from the burning monastery is more than sufficient.

I re-watched the series yesterday.
Eric is way hotter than I imagined him. Bill isnt quite as hot as I imagined him. Sam is way more likeable on tv than in the book.
But overall I prefer the book. I think the story telling in the book was much more vivid than they were able to put to screen even though they had 12 hours to tell the story.
Isnt that always the way when a book is made into a movie? I am always disappointed if I have read the book first.

But I have only read books 1, 4 and 5. So next season will be new to me.

Does anyone watch Big Love on HBO? now that is a really good series.

My initial reaction after watching the first three episodes, it's good enough to keep me watching, but outside of the Grandma and the gay cook, I don't really care for any of the characters. They aren't people I would care to associate with. I have faith in your judgment that it will ultimately pay off though.

And for such a small, backwoods town there are sure a lot of great looking people. Way more teeth than I would have expected from the non-vampires.

One of my friends who watches it was lukewarm until about episode 4, then he was firmly hooked. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Lafayette is made of awesome. It's a credit to Alan Ball and Nelsan Ellis that they made a character who really should be so unsavory into something so likeable. There are some characters I didn't like right away (Tara for example) that I love now because of the way they developed. Others I loved right away (Sam, Sookie, Terry, Eric, Pam), but I think that was because I know how they are in the books and I trust Alan Ball to get it right. The biggest shock to my sytem was Bill - I really deeply dislike BookBill, but TVBill is a whole different animal.

Yeah, they have a great dental plan there in Bon Temps.

I actually gave the initial book a try when it first came out but it didn't grab me at all so I've no basis for comparison for the characters so I'll take your word on it. So far it all feels like an appetizer; the main course has yet to arrive.

I'm trying to catch up with this before the new episodes and I'm 3 episodes in. Like someone said above first 3 arent too great but it has my interest to keep watching. One thing I'm wondering is about the 2 women dying after sooki's brother is with them.

yes, that serial killer sidebar had me guessing until they revealed it, good writing on their parts there IMO (no idea they had books, shouldve figured w/ the success of dexter, HBO would need a literary vehicle...looks like they got two w/ this and 1 ladies decective agency, lol)

i enjoy it. i like that its not the 'typical' vampire story.
the stuff where the brother got hooked on snorting vamp blood...disturbingly funny! i felt SOOO bad when that hippie broad he was w/ got 86d
the part in the finale where bill is burning, but DOESNT burst into flames and burn out, ala blade...i actually clapped. i hate the idea of vampires being so weak the sun kills them. weakens, sure. i guess im a ann rice fan in THAT aspect of her mythology

looking forward to se2!
