[SIZE="3"]Wow. An over-the-top gorefest in the “Dead Alive” tradition. I do not like gore if it’s realistic. This is not - it’s stylized to surreality and absurdity. We’re talking fire-hose sprays of blood. This is a perfect Bad Movie Night film. Buncha guys, buncha beers, buncha pizzas, lotta groans and laughs. (I don’t recommend sushi with this.) The relatively high FF Rating™ is due to my skimming through attempts at acting and character/relationship development - that is NOT why you rent this movie.

Sounds good! However, can someone explain the FF Rating?

From the Newsletter:

[COLOR="Blue"]The FF RatingT system is gauged by use of the FF button in increments of 10% of running time. If I FF through a tenth of the film (i.e., 9 minutes of a 90-min film), its FF RatingT is 1. Thus, the lower the FF RatingT, the higher my level of engagement.
(Note, I didn't say the better the film. Crap can - and often does - engage me.) FF = 5 is the threshold of unwatchable.

Thanks Ken. A movie has to be really bad for me to FF through the first time I see a movie. I didn't even FF through "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama" the first time I saw it.

Cheers,
Ox

Pretty much the same with me. I NEVER fast-forward the first, or even second, time I watch a movie. In fact, the only movie I have used the fast-forward on is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. And even then, only for about 90 seconds or so when the rock and roll band starts playing.

I never fast forward either. There was one movie during which I found myself fast fowarding a lot because I was so uncomfortable with the subject. Finally I said why am I doing this, and just stopped the whole damn movie.

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.
You may quote me.

Now that you mention it, there was another movie that I recently rented and -- on the second and subsequent viewings -- fast forwarded through a fair bit of it.

The movie was STALAG 17, starring William Holden. It was an excellent story, but the director (Billy Wilder) had to make something of a comedy of the story. Imagine THE GREAT ESCAPE having as two of its major stars, Bozo and Clarabelle the clowns. :mad2:

Haha good one Ken. I also enjoyed the smiley face (or not so smiley face) on that post. I can't remember a time when I FF on a movie the first time I've watched it at home, but I can think of a few times where I was at the cinema and wanted to FF (i.e. Soldier with Kurt Russell.)

Cheers,
