That's possible. Now that I think about it, the helicopter had taken off on another mission in the last episode, a mission that Sayid asked about and but was brushed off. But I still think Ben sent Alex with Carl and Danielle in the hopes that someone else would do away with Carl and Danielle.
If you are correct, then you are only incorrect in using the word "hope." Ben has a way of communicating with the Others, just like he did with Juliet a couple episodes ago. If that's what Ben wanted, then he didn't really on "hoping" something would happen to them. He TOLD someone to do it..... somehow.

Quote:I didn't quite see that coming, though I can understand why Sayid did it. I agree, I don't think any good will come of it. In fact, I think we are seeing the beginning of Sayid's post-Island indentured servitude with Ben.
Yes, I think Sayid just unwittingly put everyone at risk.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... You are correct, sir. I'd forgotten that, too. Damn, is there anything Ben CAN'T do? He's like a Machiavellian, insufferably sneaky, yet very short superman.

When Michael is about to detonate the bomb on the boat, we hear a brief loud noise, the noise of the Island Monster (sounds like the warning horn blasts you hear at construction sites), then the whispering, and then Libby appears to tell Michael not to do it.

I equate the Monster sounds, the whisperings, and images of people who shouldn't be there, with whatever power it is that runs or is behind the Island (maybe Jacob?). When I hear or see those things, I think of the Island's warning system and well, whatever else there may be at work on the Island.

I used to think that Ben was in cahoots with that, whatever that is. But why would those Island-powered sounds and images come to Michael just as he is about to do Ben's bidding and warn him not to? Is Ben at odds with the Island when it comes to that freighter?

Ha! Good one. I don't think he was behind offing the kid and Alex's mom. Lapidus probably zipped the mercenaries over and they're getting to work wiping everyone out. Note that they didn't check to see which island clan they belonged to, they just shot them down cold.

I see a Great Escape like mass execution on the horizon.

Yeah, you're probably right. I think those muscle guys on the boat who were skeet shooting with sub machine guns (talk about overkill) got their dreams answered when they were let loose on the Island to shoot anything that moved. I imagine those were their orders.

I still don't think Ben will shed any tears for the loss of Karl and Danielle. They might not be dead, just left for dead.

Yikes! That brings awful images to mind. I can see Claire running for her life with Aaron in her arms. She takes a bullet in the back and falls, on top of Aaron, shielding him. He lives. Kate takes him.

All right, this is probably gonna be a long post because I haven't posted on here this whole season, but I did read what I guessed because my dad didn't record long enough, Sayid was working for Ben.

To go back a few episodes, not many, but back when Desmond went through the storm and lost his memory. Not much on this, but Desmond is one of my favorites character out of anything I've read or seen, so when he almost died that was getting me upset. That was a good episode, but I don't really like Danial? (I can't really remember for sure) anymore. He used Desmond so he wouldn't die if he went through it.

One thing, who is the last of the 6. I know you guys said Aaron, but I don't think that it's him because he was technically a passenger on the plane because he wasn't born yet, so how would anyone know that he was on the plane before being born? This leads into Suns flash forward for me.

It has been confusing me, because my dad thinks that with Jin in that flash forward, it was really a flashback for him, but I think he was in the future, he just staged his death and moved on for some reason. If I just completely missed something on that, that clearly shows that Jin was dead and was flashback please let me know.

I don't think Ben is bad or good really. I think he just does what he has to do to get what he wants and survive, no matte what happens. I also think Ben was beind the shootings of Carl and Danielle, because they didn't ever shoot at Ben's daughter (I just can't remember names tonight).

One thing that has been completely bothering me this season and is starting to get on my nerves is Jacob. We left last season not knowing what this "ghost" is or who he is or what he wants and they haven't said a thing about him since Hurley saw him. I haven't read all the posts for this season, so I don't know if you guys all caught that Hurley saw Jacob just before Locke appeared in the window, when he got lost from Sawyer and the others. I really want to know more about Jacob and "The Island." Are they the same? Or are they maybe opposing forces and that's why Ben has him locked away in a cabin, so he can force information out of him somehow.

Anyway, this post is long enough so I think I'll stop here.

In the preview at the end of the episode the announcer said "The Oceanic 6 have been revealed" and it showed pictures of Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sun, Sayid and Aaron. So unless they're lying to us those are the six.

The Lostpedia website, as mentioned, is good.

So is the abc.com website. You can view the episodes in toto; you can watch coming attractions and highlights of previous episodes; you can read episode recaps. Below is the link for the recaps section.
