The boys had Big Wheels as tricycles when little. Their regular 2 wheelers were BMX youth trail bikes. Dark in color with bright flame/lightning stickers all over. Fond memories of hubby swearing as he assembled them!Big Grin

BMX/dirt bikes were definitely all the rage for kids around then.

In the late seventies it was Grifters, Boxers and Choppers, but the others are right, by the eighties BMXs became big (I always preferred racers).

No idea about Elliot's bike.

As others have said, BMX bikes were popular. If I had to guess, I'd say HUFFY was the most popular brand. Don't know for sure.
