Scott Hajek Wrote:I liked the episode, but the opening narrative set me off a bit. "Five strangers" that will be brought together:
1. Cheerleader
2. Brother that can fly
3. Other brother that can fly
4. Artist that can paint the future
5. Cop that can read minds
6. Woman with split personality
7. Man who can freeze time and teleport into the futre

Am I missing anyone? By my count, that's more than five....

I do like the show, all nit-picking aside.

I had the same thought Scott. I wonder if one of the flying brothers, probably the politician because it fits so well, will become a villain. Although that still leaves 6, but maybe they aren't counting the artist. Hell I don't know but that tag line makes no sense.

I agree that the politician brother who can fly may turn out to be a bad guy but the woman with the split personality may be as well. I could be reading too much into it but her power does seem rather cruel and dangerous. But if the artist is not counted, the woman with the split personality is good. and the older brother is bad then there are five right? Stray thoughts... the ex-husband is Skylar; that last scene where the cheerleader awakes cut open and autopsied was wild; I really like the Japanese actor; I think it would be better if they get to the nuclear bomb this season and move into different story arcs for subsequent seasons.

Scott, I am watching Studio 60 and so far I like it.

Shouldn't Mohinder be included in the list as one of the "strangers" that will get together? He doesn't have a super power, but will surely be joining the group as their advisor/trainer/whatever. So, that would suggest that three out of the seven must be cut out for either villainy or quick death.

As for Mohinder's female companion being a "useless" role, am I the only one who smelled "setup" from the instant he met her? I think she was planted to keep an eye on his father, and now she's keeping an eye on him. We're going to see some serious badness out of her! (I wonder if she was involved in getting the killer's apartment cleaned out before Mohinder brought in the cops?)

Brett

P.S.: I think the murders that the ex-husband was accused of were actually carried out by his wife's other personality. How else do you explain her going to the exact same spot to bury the new bodies? Something about the way she described the murders to his mother sure sounded like her own MO.

This is true, but maybe they aren't counting him simply because he doesn't have any powers (that we KNOW of... DUH-DUH-DUUUUUHH). It will be interesting to see exactly what kind of role Mohinder will actually play in the show once he's made first contact. It seems to me that he's more preoccupied with actually finding one of the "heroes" more than knowing what to do once he's found them. We're in a unique position of knowing what has to happen before any of the characters do. So the "why" and "what" has already been answered for us. It's the "how" we are seeing played out.

That makes perfect sense. It explains a lot of their interactions. Who knows, maybe she has powers of her own. The question is whether she's with the cheerleaders dad or with Sylar. Maybe that's a redundant question. Wink

Once again, great point. I thought it was kind of a red herring with the way the mother-in-law was just brushing aside any negative things about her son. It's like they were trying too hard to get us to believe he was bad. I also got a feeling that the husband wasn't even in the picture anymore, she'd probably already disposed of him (maybe that was him she dug up?). Either that, or he knows all about her second personality and he's hiding from her more than the cops. I think her character is one that will be pivotal later in the show. There will always be a struggle between good and evil for her and it's no mistake that she's been given a son (or "kid").

Am I the only one who thought that the scene with the cop in the bar (When he was reading everyone's minds and then couldn't read the one bad guy's...)
was totally awesome?

I loved how it got all silent and kind of just zoomed in on the bad guy. Now THAT'S great television!

So any input on last nights show? I thought it was entertaining, although I am curious now primarily of what the politicians brothers power is. Am I the only one who enjoys the scenes from next weeks show more than the show itself?

A few notes first: The intro narrative dropped the count of strangers... it's not five anymore. Also, the picture of Mohinder's dad on the back of his book changed. It was a more recognizable character actor (whose name escapes me) last week from the book pictured yesterday.

I like the fact that the brother's power is not just flying, but a copycat-type power. And, Hiro as a sword-wielding, english-speaking badass from the future? That's just classic! I can't wait for next week!

Peter's power seems to be a lot like Rogue's (from X-men) as in he seems to copy the power of whomever he's with. I don't think Peter's brother is evil. He just can't quite deal that he can fly. I mean, would you? One day you're minding your own business, trying to run for congress of all things, and the next thing you know...you're flying...I think he's just trying to deny it very very hard.

And it looks like he's achieved fantastic control over his power, to the point where he can now stop time for everyone except a particular person. It should be interesting to see how much control the others develop.

Save the cheerleader!

Then again, it might be because of the younger brother's powers that he was saved from the time-stoppage...
