Are others noticing an increased presence of RJ books in your areas? Borders here in Reno has quite a large stock. I went tonight to buy the paperback of Infernal, which the computer said was in stock, and couldn't find it. There were at least six copies of The Tomb (I bought another one) along with several other FPW titles on the shelf, but I just wasn't finding what I was looking for. When I finally did find it, I was quite pleased: It was on an end-cap with a large number of other RJ books. The entire end-cap was devoted to RJ. They must've had at least 20-25 FPW books on the shelves, which is pretty good for around here!

I want to go check out Barnes and Noble now.

What are others seeing?

A local Borders used to carry no titles, now they have a bunch. Another, I noticed, now has one of the endcap displays you mentioned and bunch of copies of most every book.

I work at a Waldenbooks. When the Tomb reissue came out I ordered six copies to the store and I'm pleased to say we've sold most of them, thanks in part (I like to think) to my displaying them near the register. We just got a bunch of Infernals in, too. And I ordered us copies of the rest of the series. I'm awfully proud of myself.

At my job, the Brown (University) Bookstore, there is at least one copy of Infernal in, and FPW's books have never been there before (unless you count the copies of The Keep and The Tomb that I'd ordered in).

About English paperbacks, just a little while ago I found "The Tomb:Author's Definitive Edition" in Kinokuniya bookstore.

Japanese edition RJ series are all available in any bookstores.

You guys rock. Booksellers have a lot of influence on what people buy. When I worked at B&N the book Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson came out of nowhere to become a bestseller - mostly because booksellers all over the country were talking about it and recommending it to customers.

As for the original question - I only go to Wal-Mart when there is no other choice, but I was there last month and I noticed that they had a lot more RJ in stock than whenever I'd been there before. My nearest Borders also had more copies on the shelf than ever before when I was there a couple of weeks ago.

I wish I could say I was seeing more of and RJ or FPW presence at the bookstores here. No matter how much I bug the Barnes and Noble or Borders they still have pretty none to speak of.

The other day I had to run to Fred Meyers to pick up a prescription, so I had to wait around for about ten minutes while it was filled. I browsed their book shelf and they had two FPW books, the new bargain Keep and a paperback of Crisscross. Sadly thats more then the book stores have had.

Its good to hear its happening somewhere though.

I went to a Barnes and Noble store last week looking for the bargain Tomb and they didn't have any in stock, but would be happy to order it for me. All they had was one copy each of Infernal, Conspiraies, and All The Rage. All paperbacks. They were in the fiction/lit section because they have no horror section. I don't like Barnes and Noble. I'm going to try Borders after work today. Hopefully I'll have better luck!

My wife works at the local Border's. They have a great display up of all the RJ paperbacks, and they're selling great. The low price on the re-issues of The Tomb have been a BIG selling point.

Whose idea was the bargain price on re-issues? I don't remember if we heard, but whoever it was should get a big fat raise! If the increase in quantities in stores and increased activity on this board (including spammers!) is any indication, then the idea is working really well! Big Grin

Yep. This was very likely the publisher's idea. A damned good and effective one. Good for them!

Now, if we can only get a good RJ movie in the theatres --- or better yet, on TV.
