But did you see the =original= Galactica series?

One night in 1979 (or thereabouts), I was sitting at home in Brockport with my babycheeks au gratin Sue. She was a =stone= fan. "Mike!--watch!" Yeah, well...

Baltar's ships had cornered the GALACTICA. Hitting it with lasers. "Burn, GALACTICA! Burn!," said Baltar in delight. "Sir...you should see this." "Not now! I want to relish this!" But things got a little =hot= aboard Baltar's ship... "What's...what's =that=, robot?" screamed Baltar.

Seems =another= Battlestar had survived. ATLANTICA, by name. And that big ship was dealing hard. Protecting GALACTICA.

Sue screamed with delight. We did a little dance.

And that's all I recall.

Yeah, I saw original when I was a kid. I don't remember the details, but I liked it.

But now, I prefer the remake =(or should I call it "sequel"?)= version. All battle scenes are excited and cool. Because they don't use lasers. They use missiles! It's very realistic effect. Smile

Didn't really read the thread much out of concerns for spoilers, but besides that would you guys recommend watching this series now that it is complete? I was thinkin about picking up on it with netflix over the summer. I probably will anyways but thought I would ask what some think.

I would strongly recommend the BSG series. It was my favorite while it was running and I rewatched it a couple months ago and it holds up really well.

In my opinion one of the best written series in a long time. And the series finale didn't upset me the way it did some people. I won't say more to avoid spoilers but I didn't mind the finale at all.

Well I've embarked on the final leg of Battlestar Galactica and they continue to confound expectations with Earth being what it is. While I can't wait to see how it ends I'm going to be sad to see it end.

That statement sums up my feelings about the ending of the series as well. I was excited to see how it would end but not happy that it was ending. As I have said before I will hold off on any details but I wasn't upset with the series finale as some people were.

It's in the books and it is definitely the best SF show that has ever graced the small screen(I don't count The Twilight Zone as SF for some reason and it might be better than that anyway, they're close at any rate)IMO. I guess I haven't seen any real negative comments on the finale but I certainly thought it was good and adequately answered most of the questions that were raised throughout the series. I feel kind of lost without another episode or season to watch and I'd say that is a pretty good benchmark for quality; leave them wanting more.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it and liked the finale. There is another site I visit often where people really didn't like the ending and felt it was a little bit unreal and a cop out. I didn't think that at all and had no problem with the kind of happy ending.

I felt the same way after it was over. What now? I still haven't found a series that has me looking forward to it ever week like BSG did.

I watched the original back in the 70s. And I did not care for it. I do not like to see Humanity on the run.

One good episode:

"Burn, Galactica! Burn!"

"Uh, Baltar..."

"Later! I want to watch Galactica burn!"

"You really should look at this, sir..."

"Not now!"

A shocking blow! Fires and circuits exploding!

It seems another Battlestar--the Atlantica--had survived, and was kicking some serious ass. Coming to the rescue of Galactica!
