New Battlestar Gallactica - Medusa - 05-10-2005 Has anyone ever watched the New Battlestar Gallactica on Sci-Fi? I used to watch the original a long time ago (well not that long ago, a I am not that old - ha ha). But it was a long time ago. I can barely remember the character names. Is the new one any good? Is is worth watching? I ask because the next Big Paintball Scenario is based on it. "The 13th Tribe of Kobul". I don't even know what a Kobul is. Is it Cylon? I guess I need to brush up on it. Figures they pick a topic I don't know anything about. Should I get the DVD's of the show or should I just go to the website and read the summaries? Some great episodes and a terrific ending to the season (thank god they greenlit a 2nd). As to the 13th tribe of Kobul, I believe that is Earth, a legend in the realm of BG where the lost tribe (13th) settled. The other twelve tribes (planets) are named loosely after our Zodiac (Caprica is the only one that comes to mind). Earth is where they are heading, although whether it is myth or reality is a big question in the new series. How that would play out in a paintball match, I have no idea. Hope this helps. The new one is good, a little bit too grim and gritty for me but most people I have talked to think it's fantastic. Kobol is the homeworld of humanity which was abandoned after a war or some other disaster millenia ago. In one of the last episodes of the season they found it. I would check the Galactica page at SciFi's website and their bulletin board for more details. The message boards especially are loaded down with live episode blogging and tons of details. I think the pilot can be watched online from there too. New Battlestar Gallactica - Medusa - 05-10-2005 Well, we do characters. One side is the Cylons and the other side is the good guys (see I don't even know what the good guys are called). They have characters in the game based on the characters in the show. Different names and such. MIssions are made out in character with the show. Its funs but I haven't gotten the hang of being a character yet. You have to playact. Thank goodness everyone isn't a character. New Battlestar Gallactica - CANADIANRJFAN - 05-24-2005 Hi Medusa, The new BSG is a Canadian production filmed in Vancouver, BC as are a good part of the cast. Life on Galactica is modelled on life aboard a US or British aircraft carrier with an added plus of extreme desparation to fuel the plot. And the effects and scale are superb. I was impressed especially by two things. First, we know that theres no sound in space so there are 'silent scenes' showing missles hitting targets and exploding. Second, the Vipers have machine guns & not the Star Wars type 'blasters' as weapons as used in the orginal. Visit the website. You shouldn't be disappointed. New Battlestar Gallactica - Scott Miller - 10-22-2009 I have been wanting to watch this show for a long time but I was too cheap to buy it and I couldn't find it available to rent anywhere until Blockbuster(yeah I still go-I need to inspect the DVD boxes)finally put them on their shelves a couple of months ago. I just finished Season 1 and was generally excellent. I thought the writing and acting were top notch. And Tricia Hefner is the sexiest woman to grace the screen in some time(she should have been a 10, not a 6) and her story with Baltar was my favorite part of the season. This is definitely the best sci-fi series. New Battlestar Gallactica - Bluesman Mike Lindner - 10-22-2009 Kenji Wrote:I agree, Scott. Tricia Helfer is hot! I like TOS. But Tricia wasn't in TOS. :p New Battlestar Gallactica - Bluesman Mike Lindner - 10-22-2009 Kenji Wrote:Oh, don't be angry, Mike. I like TOS. Ain't angry at all, Kenji! But did you see the =original= Galactica series? One night in 1979 (or thereabouts), I was sitting at home in Brockport with my babycheeks au gratin Sue. She was a =stone= fan. "Mike!--watch!" Yeah, well... Baltar's ships had cornered the GALACTICA. Hitting it with lasers. "Burn, GALACTICA! Burn!," said Baltar in delight. "Sir...you should see this." "Not now! I want to relish this!" But things got a little =hot= aboard Baltar's ship... "What's...what's =that=, robot?" screamed Baltar. Seems =another= Battlestar had survived. ATLANTICA, by name. And that big ship was dealing hard. Protecting GALACTICA. Sue screamed with delight. We did a little dance. And that's all I recall. |
