greetings everybody!

i have only recently discovered repairman jack for myself (4 weeks ago), but am already halfway through crisscross.

craving more i wanted to order the adversary cycle but had to find out that it is out of print with the exception of the keep (which i of course ordered).

i find this mindboggling: rj is obviously quite successful and directly connected to the adversary cycle, they advertise the adversary cycle in every rj novel's flap - but they don't reprint it?

i used the search function here on the forum but found no definitive answer: will there ever be a reprint (apart from the limited collector's edition)?

kind regards

They're out of print here in the UK as well. In fact, fpw hasn't had a book published in the UK since Mirage (I wonder why?)

Try ABEBOOKS.
They have nearly 4000 fpw books listed so you're sure to get a few!!

Welcome to board, gleeful.

I know your feeling. In Japan, FPW's early books(The Touch, Dydeetown World, Black Wind, The Select, Implant) are out of print. Of course, I have all of them. I wish you can get your AC.

Good luck. And, enjoy your reading!

Welcome, gleeful.

I've been holding back on new mass market editions of REBORN and REPRISAL because REPRISAL leaves you hanging until NIGHTWORLD picks up a few months after. And since I don't want NIGHTWORLD out there until after the last RJ novel (don't ask when -- I don't know), making a reader wait years for resolution of the story doesn't seem fair.

The Borderlands editions are a different breed since they're limited to 1000 copies that only True Believers -- folks who've already read NIGHTWORLD -- will spring for.

thanks for the answers and the warm welcome everbody!

@fpw
it's good to know that it was actually your call not to have the adversary cycle reprinted - i assumed it was an inexplicable decision by the publisher.

True Believers -- I like that classification. Though I can't help but hear the phrase in my mind as voiced by Stan Lee as part of the narration in a Spider-Man cartoon.

I read the Adversary Cycle novels long before I began reading the Repairman Jack novels (The Tomb excluded) and now, having read the first few Jack sequels I wonder:

1. Why Reborn has not been reissued (or is it reprinted) as it seems (sort of) clear that the events of Reborn will not be affected by Jack's subsequent adventures;

2. Why The Touch has not be reprinted. Once again, it does not seem that Jack's adventures will touch (pardon the pun) upon the events of that novel. Not even sure if it needs updating as it can clearly exist in its moment in time.

3. How substantially Nightworld will be re-thought as there seems to be a more adversarial relationship developing between Jack and the Adversary. Will Jack's essential role change. I would imagine that, while it may not have to, it almost certainly should.

OT: Are there any books outside the RJ/Adversary Cycle that feature or touvh upon the Otherness (other than Freak Show)?

You didn't mention The Touch does this mean that it is being released in a new mass market edition.

I hope you will reconsider releasing Reborn, Reprisal & Nightworld in new mass market editions.

I don't think that fans would mind that Nightworld is possibly the last RJ story & it being released before the other RJ novels still to be published.

I would certainly like to see new mass market editions, because while I'm tempted by the new Borderlands editions, the cost which works out to about $120 AUD each not including postage & that they are hardcovers keeps putting me off.

What's wrong with hardcovers? If I'm dropping any money at all on a book, I'd rather have something substantial in my hands than one of those worthless mass market paperbacks...which by the way are getting out of hand - $7 or $8 for a paperback is insanely high.

Perhaps if publishers didn't destroy so many millions of copies by stripping returns, they could keep the cost down to a more manageable $4 or $5...or better yet, bring back the $1.25 Ace Double!

Nothing wrong with hardcovers, but some people collect books to just have and read and serve no monetary purpose. For this a paerback fits the bill. Although I agree with you about the price of new paperbacks.
