Since this is October, most of my reading this month is in the horror/dark fantasy genre. I just read Al Sarrantonio's "Moonbane", sort of a werewolf version of "I Am Legend". Kind of a goofy premise, but it carries you along like a good drive-in B-movie.

Finished "Harbingers", a 1956 Fredric Brown murder mystery set in Tucson ("The Lenient Beast"), and might re-read "The Dunwich Horror" or "Call of Cthulhu" next. I gave my older son Ray Bradbury's "The Halloween Tree" to read, he's enjoying that (and getting old enough to start dipping into some of the great Bradbury story collections), and I spooked my younger son by reading him Bradbury's "The Groon".

Kramerica Industries Wrote:I just finished reading King's "The Mist" again after I found out that Frank Darabont ("Green Mile" and "The Shawshank Redemption" is going back to King. Can't wait. It's a great read. Scary as all get out and one of my favorite King works. I'm just about to start one of three books: Twilight Eyes or Midnight Eyes by Dean Koontz or Subterranean by James Rollins. Any suggestions?

I haven't read the Koontz books but I would recommend Subterranean.

Great. I'll be starting it tomorrow. Thanks!

Cthulhu for President!

Why vote for a lesser evil? I can think of none better than the great old one, who should return from his slumber to take over the U.S. government and make this country a whole hell of a lot better as the leader of our executive branch. Or destroy it and drive everyone insane, kill us all, or something really nasty! Remember, Cthulhu for President, why vote for the lesser of two evils? Wink

Some good stuff I've read lately: The Rising by Brian Keene, The Barrens and Others by F. Paul Wilson, The Resort by Bentley Little, Dragon Tears by Dean Koontz and the Violet series by Stephen Woodworth.

Welcome, you can never go wrong with a book by FPW. I know you'll enjoy the saga. Post any questions you might have. Lots of regulars are true scholars of RMJ.

To feel more Halloweeny, I tried reading Salem's Lot and had to put it down about 80 pages in.

I love "Through Violet Eyes"! A few weeks ago I bought "With Red Hands", but I haven't read it yet.

I also liked "Through Violet Eyes" and just like you I'm starting "With Red Hands" and working my way to the third and fourth books (the fourth book just came out on Halloween).

I even had a chance to meet Stephen Woodworth on MS. He's really cool.

I just ordered Through Violet Eyes from Amazon. Thanks for recommending it, Kenji! Cool
