I never said anyting about his acting ability, I'm sure he is a fine actor.

But can you think of a film I can refer to for when he has ever looked ordinary? As in if you would walk past him in the high street and not even notice him?

I don't think it would be possible. He is a hunky actor. Sure you could make him grubby, but he'd then just be a grubby hunk.

I don't think he'd be the best possible Repairman Jack.

looked up some more stuff with him- and esp after watching Blade Trinity I'm convinced he could do it. such a smart ass, someone who could go a lil bit crazy while dispensing much needed ass kickings. has the build, and i agree with whoever said he could come out looking too plain- he's cute enough without being all Hollywood.

so now I wanna know if the rumor is true.....

He's still my #1 choice for the gig. I'm looking forward to seeing who they actually do pick. It's going to be strange after all these years having this thread (and many similar to it) finally put to bed.

It may not be long now. With the script done to everyone's satisfaction, Beacon has started the hunt. I know who they're approaching first. Can't say a name, but he's been mentioned in this thread. (Heh. Who hasn't?) If he goes for it, I know I'll be happy, and I think you'll be too.

Hugh Jackman?

Hmm......oh, no! No Ashton Kutcher!

Awesome! Smile I'm just happy things look like they are finally starting to roll.

Once the movie gets made this website is going to be so overrun that we (the old regulars) are going to need our own private forum where everyone pre-movie gets grandfathered in.

I think it will be Edward Norton (though not my chocie at all)

They want the movie to make money, so I doubt that they will cast a no-namer to play RJ...no matter how good of an actor he may be.

Norton just signed to do The Incredible Hulk, I doubt he'll do another franchise so soon.

My money is on BK's contacts being right. Reynolds won't break the bank but has enough of the pre-requisites and name status to make it worth while.

And as much as I agree a Plain Jane version of Jack is the right way to go creatively, you have to accept that this is aiming for blockbuster status, and the suits are not going to hire someone because they look average, they'll more likely find someone with the status, then try and make them average.

You have a good point about the suits wanting a bankable star.

Christian Bale was seen as a bit of a gamble as Batman, but the unusual casting really paid off. Same is true of Daniel Craig being cast as the latest James Bond, with die-hard fans furious about him being given the part over younger, darker haired actors. But once again we got a much better film because of the interesting directions the filmmakers went in.

But then again, I suppose they were interesting takes on already well established characters. For a motion picture debut, I think it's probably inevitable that the lead role will go to some pretty but bland poster boy.

I'd rather there was never a film, than a bad film.
