I can't believe that no one has mentioned Christian Bale. Too bad that he's already doing a dark and edgy guy who operates outside the law...

As Kenji said, Christian Bale has been mentioned on other threads, always with the caveat that since "Batman" will come out before the RJ movie it could never happen.

For me, the ultimate proof of Keanu's acting abilities (or lack therof) is the movie "Much Ado About Nothing". When put in the same film as good actors like Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, and even Michael Keaton, the poor Keanu Reaves looks like a stick. (And I apologize to all the sticks out there).

I think Keanu's acting ability went steadily downhill after Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure!

Ok maybe he is getting a bit old but -- Tom Cruise (now I realize this can't happen due to the $$$ Tommy gets per film)

But he has it all -- small but in great shape like jack
Knows martial arts like jack
Can come across as a quite type of guy till he gets ready to rumble..

Not kidding I think Tom Cruise would have made a great Jack..

Please no. Cruise ruined Mission Impossible for me. I used to love that show on TV. I have yet to see him in a good movie. Most of them are about Cruise taking his clothes off. Yuk! Cruise's idea of acting is walking around with his mouth open. Let's get a real actor to play the part of Jack.

I can't wait to see what they do with this on film, but ever since I started reading the books, I've thought E. Norton could pull it off. He's such a gpm, but still strong enough that he could face anything the otherness could throw at 'im. Pleeeeeeeeease no Kutcher--he's too tall and obnoxious...also too recognizable...wouldn't be able to blend in! I'm crossing all my extrimities hoping they don't eff this up.
