Sometimes when I read I imagine Thomas Jane (The Punisher) or James Denton (Desperate Housewives) as Jack.

Rhada Mitchell as Gia, Charles Durning as Abe, John Leguizamo as Julio. :p

With the possible exception of Ed Norton, the others seem to be too old now to fit the role of Jack. PLUS, it makes more sense to err on having a younger actor because "just in case" there are sequels, there is probably two or three years between movies -- which, for example, is why we are currently on our sixth actor playing James Bond.

Unless I miscounted.
  • Sean Connery
  • George Lazenby
  • Roger Moore
  • Timothy Dalton
  • Pierce Brosnan
  • Daniel Craig

Peter Sellers if you include the original Casino Royale

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

David Niven was actually the original "James Bond" in that movie. Peter Sellers played a character impersonating James Bond, but not James Bond.

The original theatrical release Casino Royale isn't an "official" James Bond movie, even though they did have the rights to the novel and the movie was very loosely based on that novel. It was a spoof. So it doesn't count. Nor do I count the original version of Casino Royale, which was a 1954 television movie.

You could also say that neither "Thunderball" or "Never Say Never Again" should be "official" James Bond movies, since they were made by a different team (because of how the rights were originally sold), but those guys did make the effort to maintain continuity and a Bond Style to the movies - and the movies did use Sean Connery.

Well, I didn't read the whole topic just the first page but, I think Ashton Kutcher could pull of Jack. Have you seen the Butterfly Effect? He does a very good job at that serious role. He spent two months getting "into" his characters head. I do think that he would make a good Jack after getting "into" his head.

Ashton Kutcher.... kill. me. now. Still have that gun, Maggers?

Edit: I realize that may sound harsh, but that's how much I despise Ashton Kutcher. Wink

How many vikings does it take to change a light bulb?

None. The light from the burning monastery is more than sufficient.

I don't want to kill you, Noelie, and I don't want you to kill you either, over such a nincompoop as Ashton Kutcher. Let's kill him, or at least kill the possibility that he could EVER be Jack, 'cuz he can NEVER be Jack.

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.

Yeah, don't even say that name to me. Not that I condone murder or anything like that, but let's kill Ashton Kutcher.
