Aftershock at one time, and I have been ever grateful. I would never have gotten an original publication, nor would any of us. I'm so glad it will be the feature of your next collection so the world can see it. I found it one of the best stories I have ever read.
In fact, as soon as I read it, I told my wife: "Read this. This is why I haven't been able to get published in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction yet. Look at the level of competition I'm up against!" I loved this story so much, it depressed me for awhile how good it was.
I realize it wasn't in F&SF, so that reference is merely about one of my life goals. They just passed on another one of my stories this week (got it in the mail today). But I will keep trying!
