I just finished the new and revised Nightworld (great job Wilson) but had a few questions:
  • What happened to the Masamune?
  • What happened to Diana?
  • Why wasn't Jack able to use the sword?
  • How did the Lady come back so quickly at the end?
The Masamune is the biggest hole for me. The end of The Dark at the End hinted that the Masamune might play a crucial role in Nightworld...and it didn't.
I was hoping that Jack would at least run into the Central Park hole with the Masamune rather than heavy artillery...
Otherwise, an awesome end to an even awesomer series. Can't wait to get to the prequels.

I'm pretty sure that the Lady was able to come back so fast because she's a supernatural being. She did come back as a young girl though. I loved that part...Earth is now recognized as a sentient planet again.

Jack wasn't able to use the sword because it had to be Glaeken, even though he didn't want it. Jack may have been the Heir, but he was still the Heir apparent.

That's what I think, anyway.

I thought, after finishing 'Dark at the End' and having already read the earlier 'Nightworld', that the sword would be incorporated with the fragments of Glaeken's sword and be smelted by the 'Wee Folk'. To be honest, by the time the new edition came out and I read it, it slipped my mind.

Hmm, that would make a lot of sense, Ian. Very mysterious.

I suspect Paul's response would be, "Uhh... woops."

I could've sworn the Masamune was dealt with in either NIGHTWORLD or THE DARK AT THE END. I wish I had some shred of memory left in my brain.

I just double-checked NIGHTWORLD, and it's there. The Masamune (referred to as just a katana) is among the items that Jack and Bill took out to the tenants. See page 327.

Just found it in my Kindle copy; four lines in on Thursday: The Last House on the Left. Just a fleeting mention, no surprise I missed it.

See? If I leave you folks to it, you come up with the answers.
