Yes, awesome books indeed, although I have to admit I much like his older books as opposed to his new stuff. He spends waaaaay too much time with description rather than just getting to the meat of the story. And, although I have nothing personal against dogs, he has one in every story these days. Stephen King and Koontz have put out some amazing reads in the last few decades, but going overboard on descriptive details has pretty much killed it for me.:blah:

That's why I like Paul's writing so much; he just gets to the point while using only the minimum necessary details.

They're better than Anne Rice though. She writes incredible novels but at many points I find that I have to force myself to continue reading.

I have never finished an Anne Rice novel for this very reason. I found her style laborious. Too much emoting and not enough grit. I blame her for angst-y vampires.

Agreed. I like happy, cavorting vampires who dance the hoochie-coo. And who get thrown out of the club for trying to climb on stage and sing with the band.
