Roots, to be clear this short story does take into account that the earth, sun, galaxy and universe all move. As the time machine travels forward in time, the earth and sun spin away. The time travelers keep going until another planet spins close by.

Several people have mentioned my favorite time travel novel, "Replay" by Ken Grimwood.

I like the S.M. Stirling's "Island In the Sea Of Time" series.

And I thought the way he tied in the "Emberverse" series to it was epic.

I had a thread going about time travel books and I don't think it exists anymore. I tried an advance search, and it just appears to be gone. Regardless, someone had recommended Replay by Ken Grimwood and I would like to thank that person. Excellent book. Couldn't put it down.

I have no idea why this isn't showing up on searches. I had to dig around to find it.

Moved from the main forum and I merged the two threads.

Oh, yeah.

Gah! You said my True Name! Now I shall hover/float/fly to you and destroy you.

Back on topic:

I don't know if you'd call it a time travel story, but it has the same kind of thing going on like in Replay. Strange Highways by Dean Koontz. But instead of mentally going back in time nearly a lifetime, towards the end of Koontz's the antagonist is mentally going back minutes.

I assume you mean Bid Time Return. It has not been mentioned but you're right; it certainly does deserve to be mentioned.
