I downloaded the first one, but it is a long queue of books I have to read. Really enjoying the series tho'

I strongly recommend this series for those who like fantasy. It isn't the run of the mill, formulaic stuff that seems to be so common in the genre.

My only complaint was the time it took for the 5th book to come out. It is supposed to come July 12th, but George RR Martin has been known to miss release dates again and again and again...

I think one of the positive side effects of the TV series is that he won't get away with that now that he has a network and a whole new crop of fans to answer to. (Notice I said I think. Actually, it is more of an "I hope")

I picked up the first book and it's pretty good. The problem is it's almost an exact literal translation. The filmmakers have taken no liberties whatsoever. I'm hoping the Imp somehow forces his way onto the throne. He needs more screen time. The pacing of the show seems a little off but it's certainly good entertainment.

From what I have seen of the series (I don't have HBO and won't pay for it, so I have only seen two episodes) I think they did a good job with Tyrion but didn't make him anywhere near as interesting or in depth as I think he is in the books. I may have to retract that statement after I have seen more of the series though.


As an aside, if you like him so far you will love him (or hate him) as the series goes on. One of the top 3 characters in the entire series for me.

I agree about the pacing and the action scenes are lacking bite IMO. As cos says, it is entertaining but not great. I'd say its worth a watch.

The show starts out with an attack by them and then they don't show up again until episode 8. It's not even a physical beauty thing, Guinevere on the same show is better looking. She has presence. Oddly enough Helen Mirren had it too in the same role.

I gave up on this show. It's a shame they could only come up with one interesting character.

They seem to be following how the books are written. Each chapter is written from a different characters P.O.V. so you do get some seemingly big gaps between things happening.

The Others don't get near the play you would expect them to until much later on in the series.

Are you talking later in the season (I think there are only a handful of episodes left), or later in the series?

I really wish I could get into the books but they bore me to death. I have them all, perhaps I'll give them another go.
