Marc Wrote:Are you talking later in the season (I think there are only a handful of episodes left), or later in the series?
I really wish I could get into the books but they bore me to death. I have them all, perhaps I'll give them another go.
Anemone of the State Wrote:Next Sunday is the finale, and it seems like the series covers book 1 completely.
The Mad American Wrote:And they are talking about a second season already so they must be going deeper into the books than the first one. That is good news.
So how are you liking the books so far Anemone?
Anemone of the State Wrote:LOVING them. I just finished A Game of Thrones about an hour ago... and it filled that fantasy niche for me perfectly. I haven't been able to really get into the fantasy genre since I was a teen. A Song of Ice and Fire was written for adults... and written beautifully at that.
I'll start on A Clash of Kings after I get my daughter to bed tonight.
Thank you for helping me get this series into my own personal zeitgeist.
(Looking forward to season 2 on HBO as well... they have done justice to the first book)
Anemone of the State Wrote:I'll be buying the DVD series as soon as it is released too. I have to order the Japanese books for my wife soon though, and it sucks how the Japanese publisher has chopped them up.
Japanese list
Book 1 = 5 paperbacks costing $8 a piece
Book 2 = 2 hard covers costing $30 each
Book 3 = 3 hard covers costing $30 a piece... and they changed translator to the chagrin of the Japanese fans
Book 4 = 2 hard covers costing $30 each
So without shipping, it's around $250 from A Game of Thrones until A Feast for Crows.
The Mad American Wrote:George RR Martin's writing can seem to drag so I understand the bore thing. The 4th book in the series was super hard for me to get through but I trudged through it to prepare myself for the 5th and hopefully to see how the storylines of favorite characters play out.I just did the same, re-read all the books in prep for number five.
