I'm halfway through Season 1 and while it is not a great show, it is fun to watch. It is about a motorcycle gang who run guns. The acting is solid, although Katey Sagal is a revelation as the matriarch of the gang, and the story interesting. I say it isn't great because it has a flaw that I can't look past; all these guys would be dead or in prison behaving the way they do. Plus it is more episodic than I care for these days.

Don't think for one second that I'm accepting that apoplogy. :p Ah well, to each their own. I am curious as to why it gets on your nerves so bad though.

I cant get into this show because a guy I know and absolutely HATE loves this show and is always quoting it and basically trying to be one of the characters from the show. Silly reason to hate on a show,I know, but I cant watch the show without thinking of the jackass. Still,I loves me some Ron Perlman...

I wrapped up Season 1 and I have to admit that I was entertained although the show did have some laughably bad moments. I did discover that the creative force behind the show, Kurt Sutter, cut his teeth on The Shield, a show that reveled in excess explaining some of over-the-topness which prevented SOA from being more than a diversion.

I watched the pilot episode not long ago. I'll probably watch the rest, but I'm not in a big hurry to do so.

The thing that I found interesting is that the premise of the show is basically Shakespeare's Hamlet - with motorcycles and leathers instead of horses and armor.

I hate motorcycle gangs. There was a club in Leesville and they were such nasty people. What's funny is that they weren't 1%ers, but they sure acted like they were.

One of my work friends was associated with them and it was so sad to hear her talk about being "his old lady" and having to do whatever the man said. Its such a strange and backwards subculture. I don't understand why women would want to associate with that lifestyle. Not to mention all the men are fat and nasty!!

That was one of the shows drawbacks; there were no real likable characters. They weren't completely repulsive either but there was no one to root for. And being a femle looked to be a particularly horrible fate. There was a mini story about a girl who wanted to become someone's 'old lady' that made me wonder why someone would deliberately choose that route. I suppose the dynamic necessary to desire such a path isn't much different than any others' decision to join a gang of any sort.
